Maybe I’ll just need to stop on the way home from their house from now on. It was a very “cringey” moment, finding lots of possibilities for myself (even though I wasn’t buying) and only a couple of scarves/drapes for her. I tried to camouflage by pointing out things that would be good for various people we know, so it wasn’t all about me. Still awkward.

Angie if you have any suggestions on this store for small-busted, shortish apples, please do comment!

I've also had issues with Soft Surroundings - years ago - and through mail order. Inconsistent sizing.

Maybe Angie has some "apple" tips that could help for direction?

Somehow I don't see Soft Surroundings for apples, something about the clingy drapiness of everything (I still get the catalog).

My personal rule of thumb is that longer tops need to either somewhere end above the crotch or be much longer and end a few inches above the knees. I've gotten a few tops in the length between those (mid thigh) from soft surroundings and I have ended up using them as nightgowns.

Help! I need advice on which items from this store/catalogue would work for a 5’5” body with an apple belly and white hair in a cute bob cut. Their pieces often are different lengths and /or have unusual sillouhettes, which look great in the catalogue, but can throw me off irl.

This afternoon, a relative and I browsed the new Soft Surroundings store near her house. We are both familiar with their catalogue, and I have a couple of items from it. But I was embarrassed not to be able to come up with anything flattering for her. The meds she’s on have cause her to put on more weight than she’s ever carried, pretty much all in her belly. She felt the long tunics simply advertised this. She is comfortable with cropped pants, which they had plenty of, but we honestly couldn’t figure out what would work with them well for her. The sales clerks were not able to help, as they don’t really know the line themselves, and were still figuring out some of the pieces.
