The linen sheets are ...linen. Would not be my preference, and I don't even enjoy wearing it, although if I had those sheets I would totally iron them and probably would like them! He loves them, just what he wanted. Says they're very comfortable and cool to sleep on. The surface is very smooth and the weave is tight. Sateen feels warmer because the softer surface has more fuzzy threads. I used to use cotton percale all the time and it seemed reasonably cool. I do get warm at night if I sleep with more than just a sheet and I try to just wear a light tee and light bottoms or undies. Since I haven't been drinking much wine I seem to stay cooler at night, but our newest cat (who is pretty large) insists on cuddling beside me for at least half of the night and that doesn't help. He was sitting outside Bed Bath and Beyond when he called. No dice! So, I helped him shop and we ordered from Quince. When I got the silk top and ponte pants last month, I had also ordered a duvet cover. For $99 it is very decent quality, and light weight for summer. Has laundered nicely. Microfiber of ANY sort, regardless of what they say it is made of, has been horrible for me - hot, Hot, HOT. The worst, of course, is any polyester blend, as it is equivalent to sleeping on plastic. Ironically, I don't mind polyester fiber in clothing, unlike many people, but in bedding I just can't.&nbsp;</p> <p>Ideally, I would try silk sheets, but I haven't decided to indulge yet, as they're somewhat pricey. But I very much prefer my silk pillowcases to the cotton, and I sm hopeful that silk sheets would provide the same benefits (cooler in summer, adequately warm in winter, smoother than other sheets). Mostly now I wear them to bed because my feet get cold during the night. I can say only that they don't seem to keep my feet as warm as regular socks, nor are they quite as soft and silky as claimed. I have been refraining from discussing bedding because I have already come here with my linen woes once - sheets that wouldn’t stay on. They do now; however, my pillow cases have taken to sliding off. Argh! And now I’m going to let it all out… OMG… in addition to all that, yes, I have been trying various ‘cool’ bedding products … and zero, nada. The absolute worst are these cool pillows, which are like ice cubes to the touch until you actually lie down on them - which is then like being roasted on OPEN COALS. Adding the cooling pillowcases is like throwing gasoline on top. (Yes, I know this because the pillowcases keep slipping off and it’s a little better without them.) It’s so terrible because otherwise the pillows are the perfect softness for me, and I don’t really want to give them up. And listen, during a recent heat wave, I tried lying on a cooling mat that I’d bought for Lilypup. The cool was supposed to be activated by lying on it. I had no idea it was so useless… it was just like the pillows. Starts cool and then becomes a heating pad!</p> <p>I’m now thinking back to real linen or<br /> cotton…</p> <p>…ARGH!!! I've only ever had cotton sheets so I don't know which to try, but I definitely want to try something!</p> <p>I think I'm most intrigued by bamboo but I have no idea what fabric made from bamboo would even feel like. </p> <p>Linen claims to be wonderful and to soften with each wash, but linen clothes can be scratchy and stiff so it's hard to imagine sleeping in it. Plus, they wouldn't have to claim getting softer with each wash if they started out soft to begin with. How many washes before they start to feel good?</p> <p>My DH brought home microfiber from Costco but nope to that...the fabric was thick and I couldn't imagine them being cool.
