Donna, if this one doesn’t work out, I’ll go back to looking for something like the KS or Halogen in the original post. Maybe the velvet puffy, but probably something longer. The other 2 puffies in the original post are ones I own—probably enough puffiness for now.

Preppy, wow, that seems weird to me that they’d gear up for a production run and never make any more after the first month’s worth ran out. I’m new to NAS.

Great question. I’d like to know the answer as well. I think another problem would be whether or not they still have it in your size - lots of things never come back.

Thanks Jules. I hadn’t considered degradation. Wonder if there’s any way to predict pre-purchase how long/ well the fake fur will last.

NEW QUESTION
What are Nordy’s policies this year about post-sale exchanges for a different size? I’m holding off on buying this (now that it looks like I’m getting myself a necklace) to request from my parents for my birthday. So far they haven’t asked what I want. I know the sale goes through the 4th. If they get one in any size, will I be able to exchange it later for the right size?

I have a blanket in white fake fur that has held up reasonably well I suppose, but definitely not as soft or white anymore. White wouldn’t be my first choice in fake fur for that reason. I think a colour or pattern hides the inevitable polyester fibre degradation better. But as a fun item for a few seasons it might be just fine.

This coat (orange in Finds) is also available on sale in white. I post it because the sleeves might be warmer. I have not seen any of these in person but agree that a bit of length really helps with warmth.

This is the one that tempts me, and makes sense with what I've got/need. Because of the distance, I need to be more certain than usual before placing an order. I might have the sleeves narrowed, if they're too cold.

Sarah, "neither dressy nor gear" is a good descriptor, as it gets me away from yet another puffy--this forum has its puffer queen, and I'm not about to challenge (even though it is Bastille Day). I don't think it needs to even be as warm as the parka. That's my warmest coat, and there was very little call for it last winter. For weeks & weeks (& weeks, & weeks...), conditions called for either the long navy wool coat or the dark brown leather bomber. The navy is warmer than the bomber, but not *that* much. I can usually wear whichever & adjust buttons, scarves, mittens to suit. I love them both, but when the weather is so drab, I want something that isn't so dark. So on par with them or, getting into really fine gradations, between those two and the red puffer.

Ah, I see. So something similarly warm as your blue wool coat and blue parka, but more fashiony? (Like neither dressy nor gear?)

I must be an outlier, outerwear-wise. I run cold, but once it's cold out I'm relatively insensitive to gradations? The same coat that gets me through Seattle's mild winters was just fine for traipsing around a December blizzard in Montreal.

I love the idea of a velvet puffy tbh. (Though I get your hesitation given your existing stable of coats. A fun, fashiony, but good quality faux fur would be cool too!)

Thanks Roberta, for aiding and abetting! If I get that one, it would be in white, to lighten up the winter. It gets dark here around 4, which is great for the twinkly lights at Christmas markets, but otherwise not so much. Berlin doesn’t even get much snow, so I’d be the flake, lol.

Bijou, that sounds like good sense about the short pink one. Come to think about it, a cold tushie, even when the rest of me is too warm, has been an occasional problem in the bomber jacket, which is not quite this short.

Sarah, I’m looking for something about as warm as the Kate Spade and Halogen finds. The velvet puffy might work, depending on fill. A strike against it is that, even though it’s soft & not slick, I already have two puffies. I also already have a bright blue parka for the conditions you describe, colder than what i wear the bomber jacket or long navy wool coat for. I need something for when it’s maybe too warm for them, but too cool for the red puffy.

I haven't seen either item myself either, but I agree with Bijou: the pink jacket is too cropped to be useful for the weather conditions you're aiming to cover. Even the faux fur jacket -- I'm not convinced it would be much warmer than your red puffy. Personally, I'd look for a mid-thigh-length puffy or parka type coat for the cold-but-not-Arctic conditions you mention. But YMMV depending on which body parts make you feel coldest iykwim. (For example, outerwear vests completely mystify me. If it's cold enough for outerwear I gotta have my arms covered!)

Fashintern I have not seen these IRL but from a warmth perspective I would go with the Kenneth Cole jacket over the pink because it is longer and therefore likely to be warmer. The pink looks like a fashion piece, fun but less practical and probably would be worn in similar weather conditions to your pink vest.

Like Roberta said, the black looks very luxe.

I have only seen (and petted) the Kenneth Cole jacket and it is yummy. My coat closet is stuffed and already has one faux fur, alas. The lone drawback I saw was the bell sleeves, which wouldn't be very warm unless you wore long gloves. But again, soooo pretty and cozy, and has a hood! The black is particularly sharp as shown with leopard pants.

This is supposedly a good NAS for jackets, so I took a look. Both of these appeal to me, but they could both go wrong very easily. I don’t need fake fur to look real, but I also don’t want it to look/feel clownishly fake. The pink jacket is called a moto, which usually means huge lapel flaps that I dislike, but it seems the hood on this one might make that impossible. Also, they both have bell sleeves. That might be good over sweaters, or it might make me cold & necessitate a trip to the tailor to stitch down some of that extra fabric between elbow & cuff. It should be an easy fix, as there is no welt, folded-over cuff or anything on either.

I’ve never cared about NAS before, and the prices are still mostly too high for me but....

I know I want another warm jacket. Not a parka for the Arctic, but an alternative for when it’s too chilly for the red puffy, my blue wool coat is too dressy, and I don’t want to wear my leather bomber, for whatever reason. I had a couple ideas of what I was looking for, but nothing hard & fast. The most solid idea I had was something soft: maybe a velvet puffy or a car coat with a ruffle. These aren’t that, but they do combine sporty and practical with fluffy in a similar way. I like that they are light-colored; I crave variation from all the dark colors in winter.

A concern about the pink one is that it might be too close to my puffy vest. No, they don’t look alike, but in terms of function in my wardrobe and what I wear each with, the jacket could be duplicating the vest.

If you’ve seen them and can comment on quality and overall impression, I’d appreciate it.
