Style Fan, I'll have to keep an eye on EF footwear. I really like the look of so many EF pieces but not so much when I try them on but never say never.

thanks Diana, I did love the Vionic flats I tried a while ago even though they didn't stay on my feet. I'll keep an eye on that brand too thanks for the recommendation.

I haven't worn espadrilles in years but I saw recently that Vionic makes some that supposedly have excellent arch support.
https://www.vionicshoes.com/va.....rille.html
There's also a wedge espadrille sandal:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/vi.....DQod9_UM0g

By the way, Vionic seems to have really upped their style game lately. I just bought a pair of gladiators tfrom them hat I'm excited to wear.

I love espadrilles. I have a pair that I bought in Spain but I can't wear them anymore. My sister bought a pair of Eileen Fisher's sandals that are like espadrilles and she puts her custom insole in them. Mine are too big to work.

GREAT POINT Liz...I too need shoes that have a snug supportive fit in the upper, and you are absolutely right that canvas stretches fairly quickly. . Maybe leather espadrilles would do better.

I'm always tempted, because i need arch support and love espadrilles. But I always decide against it, because espadrilles are made of fabric. For arch support to work for me, I really need a shoe that fits closely to my foot and stays snug. Most espadrilles look like they'll do that for the first week or two of wear, and then the fabric will begin to soften up and lose it's shape, and the fit won't work anymore.

All the espadrilles I've ever seen have flat footbeds, which means no arch support no matter how cushy they are. Have any of you tried adding insoles with arch support, and how did it work out? Since these shoes are typically for summer wear the insole would need to be a fabric that works with bare feet I think, not plain leather.
