Those are worth a try. I did notice that my best ankle hugging boots and booties are lace up styles. I have a pair similar, with a slightly higher shaft, and they aren't the best with skirts and dresses because of where they hit on my leg.

Ah, shiny, thank you, I remembered now that it was your thread that got me thinking about this.

I am looking for something with a chunky heel so unfortunately some of the booties you found would not work for me. That's why I liked the Sam Edelman booties - nice heel height and heel shape for me.

I've been talking about this on various threads. I have skinny ankles and totally understand what you mean about too loose booties. I'm also only 5' so I understand what Traci means by having them hit at the wrong part of the ankle. I looked all last year for the perfect booties (walkable heel height) and had zero luck. This year, after trying on EVERY pair of booties at DSW, I bought two pairs of Impo Novice booties at DSW, in cobalt blue suede and a leopard print. You can see them here in this thread:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....th-a-dress

They may not be what you're looking for but they are super duper comfortable, easy to walk in (not too high) and I personally prefer accentuating the slim ankle with sleeker fit around it. All the booties that are loose and are supposed to be that way made me look like I was a kid clunking around in mom or even dad's shoes.

I also liked these a lot -- but they were a higher heel and not quite as comfy:
http://www.dsw.com/shoe/me+too.....7s%20Shoes

These were not bad:
http://www.dsw.com/shoe/madden.....cat1100004

They were loose on the ankle and a smidge too high but not annoyingly so, and the proportions to my eye were just right. However, I did not like the color choices. You might. The buckle details are cute!

I don't see it on DSW's site now, but there was also this awesome pair of purple suede wedges that I did debate about. Ultimately I thought the heel was too high. I forget the brand.

I'll be watching this closely. I have a feeling it's a matter of lots of trial and error because I've noticed it's not just about how small the ankle is, but also exactly where the top of the bootie hits my ankle, and how it tapers in on the sides. I'm hunting for a nice, low but not chunky heeled bootie to wear with tights and dresses this summer.

I tried on a ton of low heeled booties at dsw yesterday and these were the best looking at the ankle. I didn't like the style though.

I have skinny ankles and I like booties with a cut-out top--I have the Angie-recommended(?) Playlist booties from Aerosoles last year, which they remade this year as the Play Again booties: http://www.aerosoles.com/eng/p...../play-agai

Of course, there's still some gaping, but it looks more intentional to my eye.

Honestly, this is why I have a lot of pairs of mid-calf boots and only 2 pairs of booties (one of which is gapey). I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

I can't remember any recent threads about this but maybe I missed them. I would like to buy a pair of booties to wear with skirts and/or pants. I really like Sam Edelman booties but I realized that they are fairly wide on top so there will be a lot of gaping on me. Other than lace-up booties like Doc Marcies, is there anything else out there that would be good for the narrow ankle crowd?

ETA a picture of an potential contender - Zodiac Italia lace-up booties. Also available in black and taupe.
