Thanks ladies. I have my heart on a pair of Fryes. Fryes itself will not ship to Canada, or to an American post box. I haven't tried this style on before so I am not sure if it is true to size. Oh, such a tricky situation

Ariadne, the only thing to check for is that you are ordering from Amazon directly and not a seller selling through Amazon. Also, some brands do not ship internationally, but it will say right on the amazon.com page if that is so.

I've ordered Doc Marcie boots, Doc Martens Sara oxfords, Clarks lace up booties, Boutique 9 peep toe oxfords, Poetic Licence green pumps, All Black fish bow pumps and most recently, Sam Edelman red booties all from Amazon (I'm in Winnipeg). I've never had any problems with receiving my orders and in fact sometimes, they've arrived the day after I placed the order! The total on your order is the only thing you pay - no additional fees and as Ceit mentioned, you receive refunds after the actual duty charges are calculated. I've never paid more than $25 total in shipping and duty. I've never had to return anything so can't speak to what they are like to deal with for returns. Overall, I've been thrilled with Amazon's prices and service.

I haven't ordered Frye boots from Amazon, but I have ordered Sorels and some Keens. On $200ish boots I think duty was around $30. They charge you an estimated cost at time you place order, and you are refunded the difference later. I think both times they charged $45 or $60 in duty and I got $15 or so back. They came via UPS once and DHL once.
