Thank you all for the great ideas in this thread! And it sounds like good news from many of you that PJ Salvage is good quality.

Joy, ooh-lala! But, the purchase would be online and I don't know enough about fabric content and description to know the warmth/weight of a fabric without being able to touch it. I was hoping someone could educate me but contacting a brand directly is probably what I need to do.

Angie and Theodora, I do pack my own pillowcases and may reconsider the idea of packing a whole sheet set. I always want to pack light and the idea of bringing my own sheets really kills that...because also, I should bring my own towels. I may end up there though.

Roberta, I only remembered while on this recent trip that I do have one of those sleeping bag liners. I felt so dumb, but really, it was the first time in 4 years that I was able to go somewhere so it's not surprising that would happen. It is definitely on the list for next time.

April, thanks for the Cozy Earth information. Bamboo sounds really good and I am checking out their styles.

Janet and Unfrumped, thanks for the jogger suggestion. Those Kyodan ones look really good, however, an oddness: all but the smallest sizes are sold out in colors I would want. I wondered if they are leaving big-A or if we are just at the end of the season. I'll keep an eye on that.

Jules, thanks. I felt kind of reluctant to ask about PJ's but now I'm glad I did.

Thanks, all!

I have seen silk sleeping bags for travel, which pack up to nothing and are breathable to boot.

If you can't find pajamas with elastic at the ankle, a tailor could do that for you very easily, too.

I understand this issue, as one of my daughters has it. Forget this advice if you have to or always travel only with a carryon, but we packed a top and bottom sheet, along with a pillowcase for her when traveling! Still do. Actually used to even pack a comforter…. Whatever works, because rashes on a trip really stink!

Oh, I’m reminded of something. I have a pair of Kyodan joggers that are soft and light and they are the absolute best for lounging or sleeping even though they could go out in public too. I got them for a steal at Marshall’s or TJMaxx years ago and they still look new. I take them on camping trips because they can go right from sleep to a sunrise walk to take photos without having to change! Might be worth looking into those. I think even Amazon has them.

Yes! PJ Salvage is a great pyjamas brand, Peri :)

I think with a climate controlled room in the hotel, these pjs are fine.

For lightweight ( but not high summer) I have Tommy John jogger style.

I need heavier fleece in winter and like you, have decided I really want banded ankles rather than the wide legs, but these are hard to find. I have one set from ages ago and one random pants find that I paired with cuddle duds top.

The other thing I’d suggest is to go outside the “ pj” box and look at “ long underwear “ & base layer items which typically have banded ankles & wrists . Thermasilk, maybe some brands have cotton or rayon blends, & of course a lot of poly. Look at Uniqlo also. For pj’s I might size up. Garnet Hill has some jogger pj’s.

Then, not- matching always, look at regular joggers in different fabrics, & tops with banded cuffs.

Ugh, I just realized the night sweats-friendly sleepwear from the podcast is a nightgown! Which isn't what you are looking for. I don't like nighties because they ride up around my hips. Sleepwear is tough!

This is a Canadian brand but they seem to be reasonably set up for US shipping (check the return policy for sure). I haven't tried them but I am starting to rethink my preference for cotton twill.

I can’t speak to that specific style, but I have had a bunch of PJ Salvage items and I love them. I’m wearing a pair of their pants right now. I find them to be durable and comfortable — and I cannot bear to be hot at night, so they must breathe! I size up a little because I prefer sleepwear to be a little oversized.

I have 4 pairs of PJ Salvage “Thermal Print” pjs for winter and love them. However, mine are all 57% cotton, with the rest polyester and a bit of elastane. Last time I checked, the fabrication had changed to no cotton. I think this combo is very comfortable. The legs are banded.

I’ve also had flannel fabrications from the brand and found it to be good quality too.

Bought both types from Nordstrom…

A friend and I have been discussing cool sleeping PJs for other reasons, and I came across the below podcast. I personally prefer twill to jersey, and those won’t typically have a banded ankle, so I don’t have any tested recs for you.

Hanna Andersson makes pajamas of 100% cotton (all sustainable, good practices, last forever). They might be warm for you because the cotton is a sturdy thickness.

Cozy Earth bamboo makes a style like this: https://cozyearth.com/collecti.....le=Pajamas. A bit spendy.

Hi Peri,

I recently got the pair below. The cotton flannel is cosy but probably too warm for what you're after (I wanted cosy Winter PJs:-), and these are also the wide leg style of course.

FWIW, I'm happy with the quality so far: wash and dry (I line-dry) nicely, and no shrinkage.

Not much help, I know...

I've been searching for some travel PJs for a weird reason: to put a barrier between me and hotel bedding due to contact allergies to a preservative that is ubiquitous in laundry detergent. The PJs have to meet these crteria:

To be long pants and a sleeved top, with a band at the ankles to keep them from riding up. My current pair are wide legs and they ride up and expose a lot of leg as well as drive me nuts.

To be cool despite being neck to ankle because I sleep hot but still like to be covered. (I sleep on top of the sheets and use a large and light travel scarf as a cover.

It is being harder to find this combo than it should be, but I've found these from PJ Salvage on Nordstrom and other options on their own website. The material is described as lightweight jersey, 95% rayon, 5% elastane. I don't know enough about fabric to know if these would be cool or if they are more like warm winter jammies.

Any advice? Or thoughts about where to find what I'm looking for?
