No problem. As to the CBSA agents at the border, I have had them ask about some of the items I've bought including wool blend area rugs for under $100. One of them wrote down the seller information and thanked me. We rarely have to pay duty. They have an unwritten guideline that anything under $100 goes without tax or duty.

I bought a salt water generator for my pool for about $600 and paid $40 for install. They were selling locally for over $3K and were lower capacity. Great deals if you can pick up.

Thanks for chiming in Dianthus. That's how we do it, too, except that we mostly use the PO Box.

Sorry Sveta, I missed your second post and hi Suz! My Bro-in-law has the PO Box, so we use his. I think it's only about 50/year, though, so if he ever moves we will probably take over his. So, everything that can be sent via PO we send there and anything UPS or won't ship to a PO Box goes to the other place. This lady has created a whole business accepting items for Cdn. shoppers. She added on a huge "garage" to the front of her place and always has a huge stack of tires outside waiting for people. (I guess tires are a big thing to order).

Suz, don't worry about the border people. Trust me, they will be used to lots of people crossing the border just to go to the post office. There is also nothing down in Babb, except for the PO and Ann's place, an old gas station and maybe somewhere to eat (not a chain restaurant). lol It's really only there for the shipping. We do a ton of cross border shopping.

I like the shoes too Jem and the soft purple color is really pretty.

I am in the south end of Winnipeg and it is under an hour to cross the border to Pembina ND. I use a parcel service there. They charge $5 per parcel and will hold them until you get there. They are also open 7 days a week from 8 am to 8pm and will stay later if you ask in advance.

I often ship packages there when the shipping to Canada is $20-40 and free in the U.S. or if I'm ordering from Amazon and it is an item that they can't ship to Canada. Here is a perfect example of how well it works. When I was shopping with Shannon last weekend, I saw a pair of really nice Nine West shoes. They were $120 at the Bay. I checked a few days later and they sell on Zappos and amazon for just over $60 with free shipping. I may go try them on this week.

Those are great shoes, Jem! And I am following this cross border shopping discussion with interest. Dianthus does that PO box version, I believe. Dianthus, where are you? She finds it works for her. It could work for me, too...I am about an hour from Watertown, New York. But unfortunately, nobody in her right mind would visit Watertown for any other reason and it might start looking a little suspicious if I made monthly trips back and forth!

Gravity Pope has their main store in Vancouver, I believe. They are great!

And Fly London shoes are fab, fab, fab! My only problem with them is that some of their styles are a bit heavy; I prefer lightweight footwear.

Sorry! I think it is Shoe Muse. I just saw the commercial the other day out of the corner of my eye. I know they carry Fly London.

I was thinking to get PO or other means for online shipping over the border (it is 45 min drive for me there). What works better for you: PO or this other business?

Thanks Rosee and Sveta! I actually have access to a PO Box in Babb Mt, just over the border. There is also a lady who runs a business there, who will hold your UPS package for about 5/each, too. It's not as efficient as living in the US, but we get down there about once a month, so I can still take advantage of US shopping! yay!!

Thanks Rosee for the store recs!! I've never heard of Gravity Pope, but they sound like a fun place to go. They have a pretty good website. I tried looking up the one in Aspen Woods and I found the Shoe Muse? Would that be the one? I'll definitely have to check it out. I'm a big sucker for a colorful shoe...haha. I just recently found the Steve Madden store in Chinook--LOVE!!

Unfortunately Zappos stopped delivering to Canada about a year ago If you are close to the border you can arrange them to be delivered somewhere in the States and pick them up.
Those shoes are pretty for sure!

Haven't seen it in person but that sure is a pretty shoe! Hope it works for you. I like the purple best followed by the green.

I've recently read you are in "the white hat city" and so am I, so I don't know how ordering from Zappos will be. I've tried placing orders with them and they said they won't deliver to Canada. Once I sent a pair to a cousin in NY and she sent the shoes on to me. But you must be sure of the fit in order to do something like that b/c returns would be too much to ask of someone else.

Also, try Gravity Pope on 17th -- I think they may carry that brand. There is also a new store in Aspen Woods (the new SW burbs), I think it's called "Shoe Awareness" and they seem to carry such brands like this.

http://www.zappos.com/bc-footw.....day-purple I've been looking at these, but wish I could see them in person. I like that they are not too high and look a bit retro. I'm kindof liking the purple. I also love the green, but have green pumps already, although these I could wear with pants because they aren't so tall.
