I haven't tried the Sam Edelman ones but I have these Lucky Basel Perforated booties and I LOVE them. I can't recommend them enough. They are incredibly comfortable, I can walk miles in them and I get compliments on them all the time. I have them in nude color and wear them all the time. (The regular Basel booties, however, are stiff and uncomfortable for me.)

They're often on sale at Macy's. I think I got them for about $85.

Isabel, I have a pair of metallic Lucky brand booties that have turned out to be very comfortable. I like the sound of yours and will look to see what they are offering this year. I have some of the Smart Wool socks with very low profile and love them all year round. They are my indoor footwear when shoes are removed.
JAileen, those are a great find and look like they would be cool while still protecting the foot. They are a bit RATE for my style but maybe I need to move a little in that direction for Colorado living. I like that they would look unexpected on a 70 year old

Jill, that is a good point. Maybe that is the real reason I am thinking of summer shoes. And I thought it was because what I want sells out so fast.
Robin, when I heard my doctor say no sandals or heels, I almost panicked. I hate to have hot feet yet must wear something to protect them from injury. When a friend's mother came very close to having to have her foot or leg amputated, I got serious. For a diabetic, even a small injury can become serious very quickly. I tried a very hot summer without my beloved sandals and was ok with closed shoes. One still has to be vigilant and I have a lot of shoes because I never wear the same pair 2 days in a row just in case there is some rubbing that I'm not aware of. Perforated leather and D'Orsey styles form my summer shoe collection now.
Fern, that is good information. I only paint my toenails pearly white or silver metallic, no bright colors. Without sandals I may stop using nail polish on them. I do not polish in winter.
Unfrumped, I agree with all you said. I got interested in a summer boogie to wear with ankle pants, which are an old lady's version of shorts. I suspect that in my new location at a higher altitude it may be cool enough to wear more full length summer pants.

I have almost the exact boot. Mine is by Lucky and they are in sage. I LOVE my boots...they are a 10 for me. I looked at the SE but the fit wasn't was good for me. Though I don't remember why. I also loved the sage color and I don't think SE had that.

So I cannot speak to then SE fit. I can speak to this type of bootie though. I wear mine with everything. If it is a bit chilly, I wear the Smart- wool invisible sock in my skin color. Or knee high hose. I mostly wear them without socks but with a thin insert to absorb any perspiration. I can't stand to wear them if it is over 80 degrees with no breeze. : )

Ledonna, thank you for the tip. I hope that your feet will go back to their pre pregnancy size after the baby so that you can wear those cute shoes. It will take time for your body to recover, so be patient with it. Don't do what I did and take some pre pregnancy clothes to the hospital to go home in. Ha!
I will return later to comment on the other comments.

No real advice but , in my attempt to stay focused on wardrobe holes and my actual needs, a low-heeled " summer bootie " is on the list. So I'm going to be looking for one that fits my foot and is comfortable.
I actually am not so big on them with skirts and nude leg, on me -- just my " eye" --and I still wear a lot of full- length pants indoors in summer, so
I want footwear for those, but something that just reads differently than the regular ankle boots I wear all winter.

This is likely my personal obsessiveness rearing its ugly head...shoe perforations sometimes can show through bright toenail polish. You might check when you try them on or commit to footie socks. Or just don't be like me!

I would be so sad to not wear sandals! Can't wait to get back to sandal season. Anyway, it seems like the booties wouldn't be much warmer than perforated loafers which you said you wear and they are really cute. Definitely worth trying and if they're too warm for summer maybe you could just use them for spring/fall?

I actually saw some knockoffs like them in payless shoe store today. Payless is a cheap footwear store in America. The were nice and looked comfortable. Unfortunately right now I could not stuff my feet into them because of my pregnancy swelling. Oh how i miss wearing my cute shoes.

Thank you for your thoughts and ideas.

Delurked, yes, I would probably skip the footie socks with perforated boots. I have some perforated leather loafers that have seen lots of summer wear and should be replaced. I do not wear footie socks with them, but sometimes nude sheer stockings or knee highs is some warmth is needed. .

Inge, bootie fit is so difficult sometimes. Higher shafts rub painfully on ankle bones. Many are just too wide at the ankle.

Angie, you are right. I should hold out for grey. I don't even have any clear grey booties. What was said to be grey is more of a dusty brownish color. A good light or medium grey has been a HEWI.

I love the idea of these for cool Summer days, Joy. They look like they might fit the same way as the Pettys, but I could be mistaken of course. The colour would work really well with the rest of your wardrobe too.

Joy - I can't add info IRL, but I wear my petty in putty (that's just fun to say) all year round, including summer with a little sock liner. And I live in a hot climate. I find the bootie style can be better than ballet flats, which can sometimes feel sticky. For some reason, the loft no show socks mostly stay on my foot better than a lot of other brands. With the boots you show, you probably would need to skip the footie socks?

As one who can no longer wear sandals, I am thinking of this type of bootie for spring/fall of even cool summer days. Am I crazy? I wonder how these styles fit. I have SE Petty booties in my typical size. Would these fit the same way? Do you prefer one over the other? Or should I forget these and stick to ballet flats?
