Tranquility by Colorado Reversible Skirts
I'm here to bring the bargain scoop: I just bought two of these from Costco yesterday and I really really love the fit, material and contrasting colors: https://www.costco.com/Tranqui.....25567.html
My only concern is how they will hold up in the wash, if they are ok they could be my summer go-to.

I remember there was some company a few years ago that sold reversible jeans. It was some colored or coated side & then a normal side. I don't think it took off as I haven't seen them in a while.

I love versatile pieces like this. I once had a reversible dress - print on one side, plain on the other - and found it very useful for travel.
It's clever that the dress you show here can also be worn back to front, but I much prefer it with the lower neckline at the front. It doesn't look quite right the other way to my eye. Pretty dress, though.

It's the kind of dress that would have appealed to me when I was in my residency training. I could get a lot of mileage from it. It would work well under a lab coat, it is simple and because the collar is different when you flip and reverse, etc, it's versatile and economically sound. (I have the straight figure and small bust to pull it off). I am looking for items for a travel capsule too, this may fit the bill - if it's long enough.....

It's a very cool idea, but I was expecting that the two ways of wearing would look less similar to each other. In other words, if I were packing this for a trip, it would still look like I'm wearing a navy (or printed) dress all the time.** But I can see this being a neat trick for work-to-drinks (just switch in the restroom).

Zibbets, that's quite an experience with the paper swim trunks! Why would they even make those...?

** PS oops, now that I read the description more carefully I realize that the print is the inside out.

I have a Helmut Lang wool top that fits better backwards than forwards (the neckline in front is straight across and catches oddly on my collarbone, but scooped in back).

Betabrand is a little gimmicky (obviously, that's sort of their signature) but a lot of the gimmicks are really clever! Like the travel dress with built-in wrap. I live near their store / headquarters so I check things out sometimes. For me, the fabrics are not great because I prefer natural fibers, but the synthetics they use definitely seem durable and easy to wear.

I bet helps to be a straight figure if you want to reverse front and back. The two patterns for a trip could be fun, though I find it hard enough to find a dress that works one way! Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen them.

I like the Betabrand dress. It looks easy to wear and care for. I agree probably better on the smaller busted. Joy your dress is so fab! I love both sides and picking out the aqua for a cardi is genius.

I had a dress for DD when she was a toddler that reversed. Cotton, Long sleeved, Peter Pan collar, and it closed with a couple of ties at the waist. So cute. It didn't get a lot of wear though as two layers of stiffer cotton is too much. In this case, I wonder if the two layers might have a smoothing effect--that might be a real positive.

Joy, that dress is amazing on both sides!
Your paper dress reminds me of a story a colleague tells. On a business trip one time he bought a pair of paper swim trunks out of a hotel vending machine so that he could join the rest of the crew at the pool. Swimming was fine, but after a few minutes in the hot tub he noticed tiny pieces of fiber rising to the top of the water and realized his swimsuit had disintegrated, leaving him with just a thin elastic band at the waist. He's a dignified, older man with a great deal of modesty and when he tells the story it's hilarious.

Runcarla, I once wore a silk shell to a job interview, intentionally backwards! It was too low in the front for that setting, but the print was great with my jacket, and I got the job!

I have a very simple inexpensive cotton jersey dress that I wear backwards. I mostly use it as a beach coverup and I realized the deep V in front didn't really provide the sun coverage I want for my chest so I flipped it around one day and found I actually preferred it that way. My mother has the same dress and does the same successfully even though we are different body types. So I do think it's possible at least for a less structured dress. There's nothing amazing about this dress though, not in either direction.

If done correctly, I think we wouldn't know that the item is reversed, right? :-) That said, *I* wouldn't wear a reversible top/dress because I am large busted and appreciate a bust dart in my clothes. That would make for a funny reverse look--lots of room for the shoulder blades!

I have a dress in a very similar shape to the linked one, but mine has sleeves. It's not reversible in the inside out sense -- just front to back. As someone pointed out above, I find the scoop to the front more flattering, and favor wearing it that way, but either way works. Bear in mind that I was not blessed with a rack, and I suspect those that were will find the fit less satisfactory. There's a limit to how much bust can be accommodated with stretchy fabric before you need darts.

It's not a bad idea. I always see things like convertible dresses recommended for travel, which I wouldn't care for. I doubt I'd like good or want to bother with all the options! But a reversible dress might be nice, especially for a longer trip. Usually, I can get away with one dress, and if I want more, it's so I won't get bored more than anything else.

Not this brand but I am a fan of reversible dresses. I have one from a consignment but once had a reversible paper dress in the 60's that was amazing and survived an entire summer in Europe as the only dress I packed. Travelsmith usually carries some reversible dresses.
My current one is shown below showing both sides. The first is red and blue, the second is pink and green. It is a pull on shift dress with no fasteners. I can use an aqua cardi as a topper for both sides.

Haha Carla, that's funny! I like the idea but the low neck looks a bit low for me and I agree that I would probably tend to only wear it my favorite way. The double fabric would be nice and thick though!

The concept of clothing that is convertible is interesting, but I bet most folks would fall into the habit of wearing it in the way that flatters them best and not switch it up. On the other hand, I have worn regular items backwards or inside out - just not on purpose!

I've been seeing variations of this idea as I've been web surfing trying to find an outfit to wear to my sister's wedding. It sure beats the new thing Opening Ceremony is trying to make happen with jeans that convert into shorts that look more like granny panties or something

ETA: not that there's anything wrong with 'granny panties'. Because there is nothing wrong with them. I just don't want jorts that look like panties
