And all topped off with news that your son will be with you sooner than you originally though, how great!! </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/happy-moments-26-nov-25th#post-1101022 Fri, 29 Nov 2013 17:36:53 +0000 MsMary 1101022@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I am super late to this thread but I wanted to come and share about my Thanksgiving, which was full of happy moments!&nbsp; </p> <p>I had been apprehensive about the holiday because I have been accustomed to hosting Thanksgiving for a crowd in my lovely house.&nbsp; And this year I am exiled from my house, separated from my husband (my choice, but still painful), and no crowd in sight.&nbsp; And of all things, I had the first court appearance in the pending divorce the day before Thanksgiving!</p> <p>Well.&nbsp; It all worked out.&nbsp; I had the week off work and filled it with fun things including inviting a friend over to help me put up a Christmas Tree in the Bachelorette Pad.&nbsp; The court appearance went smoothly and even though things are not moving as quickly as I'd like, there is a faint light at the end of the tunnel.&nbsp; And yesterday, Thanksgiving, was just awesome including the following happy moments:</p> <p>1.&nbsp; Getting up early and going to a nice sweaty boot camp class at the gym<br />2.&nbsp; Going out for a lovely dinner with my parents<br />3.&nbsp; Getting a phone call from my son the Marine as my parents and I relaxed at their house after dinner<br />4.&nbsp; And big news!&nbsp; The Marine was scheduled to come back to serve his final year in Southern California in March of next year, but now it is going to happen in February!&nbsp; So we will see him in less than three months!&nbsp; Great, great rejoicing all around!!<br />5.&nbsp; After I got home last night, the Marine and I bumped into each other on Facebook and had a nice Facebook chat including a meticulous dissection of the recent Doctor Who anniversary special, and listening to "Alice's Restaurant" on YouTube on our respective computers, 6,000 miles apart.&nbsp; Gotta love the technology!</p> <p>Thanks for letting me share!&nbsp; </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/happy-moments-26-nov-25th#post-1100838 Fri, 29 Nov 2013 09:01:07 +0000 Anonymous 1100838@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Thanks for your lovely reply Ornella. With regards to your son... mine at almost 10 has very untidy handwriting and I am constantly on to him to try to improve it; so you are not alone I get fed up of the sound of my own voice as I nag him to try harder. And while I never celebrated it or lived in the culture where it's celebrated,&nbsp;of all holidays it is one of my favourite.</p> <p>Today I am very happy and thankful:</p> <p>1. For this thread and for you Diane for&nbsp;running it every week. It gives a whole new dimension the forum.<br />2. I'm happy I finally have a morning to myself. No schedules, no distractions, not 10 different places to be in the span of 2 hours,&nbsp;nowhere else to be but in the warm apartment, doing <b><i>my</i></b> things.<br />3. In the first thread from this series I have posted about my friends going through adoption process. Today I believe they are closer to a match.<br />4. I am happy my husband talked some sense into me a few days ago when I felt really low and upset.&nbsp;<br />5. I am happy and thankful my husband loves his job. And that he&nbsp;continually gets great&nbsp;feedback. Last night his boss told him that he's one of the best candidates he (the boss) had interviewed in his entire career.<br />6. I am happy some very inspiring women have entered my life recently and I look forward to calmer days when I'll have more time to spend with them.<br />7. I am happy with how the works on our house are progressing, that we managed to catch some errors while it's easy to fix them.<br />8. I am especially happy when I see my son trying to develop pretty, neat handwriting. I had not accepted some of his early homeworks as good enough not because I'm perfectionist (I hope ), but because I wanted to teach him he should simply try his best. So, he had to do some of them again. I'm terrible, I know.&nbsp;And while the squiggly numbers and&nbsp;letters still <i>dance</i> all over the pages, I think he's developing a sense of the importance of the&nbsp;effort and not just getting things done whichever way.<br />9. I'm happy my husband and I finally got to watch "Before Midnight" together, and like both previous films from the same team it left us with days of pondering and talking&nbsp;about it. And this weekend we are making a flying visit down to the town we left in July for in the induction service of the new pastor. I got a call this morning to interview for my dream job.
