I love Canada. </p> <p>We celebrated Canada Day 9 years ago on our honeymoon, when we were driving back to Seattle from the Canadian Rockies. We stopped for the night in Kamloops, and watched the fireworks from a wonderful suite in a historic hotel. We've always enjoyed our travels in Canada and have been impressed with how welcoming and friendly our Canadian neighbors are. Back in the trading days, these rivers were a major "highway" for traders and travellers alike. There have been many historical artifacts unearthed at this site. Now there are shops and a large green space with a centre area for concerts, etc., as well as a stone river walk that leads from The Forks all the way down the river to our Legislative Building. It really is a beautiful place. The Forks was bustling with all sorts of Canada Day celebrators and there was free music, dancing, all sorts of activities for the wee ones, people going out on river boat tours...the place was alive. Now we're back, a wee bit sunburned and getting ready to put some ribs on the barbecue and open a cold brew. It's a great start to a week off.
