I used to sell make and sell jewelry to stores. I think I burned myself out. Occassionally I will make something. I need to mess with it again.

I also make my own jewelry. Mainly knotted pearl necklaces with a twist (I'm such a pearl gal). Also, I direct sell pearl jewelry (not my own). I find the process so relaxing (like crocheting) as well as having something unique not found anywhere else. Lately I've been studying Chanel's 1920s necklace designs and using those for inspiration on my own designs. For example, black diamonds and pearl necklaces are quite elegant albeit expensive. So what I am doing now is using freshwater round pearls with black crystal spacers on a current design. When I am finished, I'll upload a photo to share.

I made jewelry in a store for years (beadwork on leather, string, wire, etc...) and have quite a stash of supplies, but like Bianca I have little time (my son is 6 and daughter 2.5). I have problems purchasing in store because I know I can make same/similar (yet never get around to it). I've made earrings to order for some mom group friends and if I need something to match a special outfit and have time I will whip something up.

I've learned to make beaded and pearl jewelry for myself and for gifts. I especially enjoy creating pieces for my sister who can't have any metal except 18C gold touching her skin. It's a fun creative outlet.

I've wanted to learn how to make jewelry for some time but haven't found a studio that teaches it. I guess I haven't looked too hard though. Maybe after spanish classes.

I too would like to see some of the creations.

I'm actually trained as a metalsmith (from back when Parsons still had a metal department); hollow form construction of S/S jewelry is my favorite. Since I don't have a studio right now though, I do some beading. I've made some necklaces that I'm enjoying. Mostly Swarovski, Czech glass, coral, turquoise, amber etc. I'm hoping we can get our garage arranged so that I can get back with my torch!

I've made a few things, but I'm not that great at it just yet. I tried on a necklace today that I bought a while back and would like to restring because it just doesn't lay right. I'm scared to take it apart though, because I'm also a huge procrastinator and I'm afraid I'll never get it put back together!

Hi Steph! Like you, folks have noticed and asked about my jewelry, especially my chunky bead bangles. I don't use plastic or glass beads either. Only Swarovski crystal cubes will do when I want to go sparkly. Not quite ready to sell my jewelry. I'm enjoying having (almost) exclusive rights to it!

I make jewelry. I use sterling silver and gold fill, and sometimes 14k gold or white gold, if I'm making something really special. I stick with semi-precious gemstones (and have used sapphires in the past as well) and pearls; I don't use plastic, glass, crystal or spacer beads in my work.

I have never really sold my jewelry, although I make a lot for friends and family. I have done one set of bridesmaid jewelry, and right now I am making a bridal necklace and earrings for a cousin, and I might do her bridesmaid jewelry as well. The only time I have sold my jewelry was when I made a friend a sapphire and 14k white gold bracelet--I charged her for the materials because they were so expensive. I have also sold jewelry as a fundraiser for the animal rescue group I volunteer with. I get a lot of compliments from random people on the street, so I have considered selling my stuff on a larger scale.

Have the pliers right upstairs and clasps and all! But my two little boys (4 and 2) keep me busy (and I'm in Grad School) so there isn't much time for anything else right now (sshhh don't tell them I'm on the computer). But It is craft I would LOVE to pick up again. It would be a fun girls night out!

Four years ago, I took wire wrapping jewelry classes and ever since I've been designing and crafting sterling wire and bead jewelry - bracelets, necklaces and earrings. I so enjoy the entire creative process! Lately I've been making bangles with silver wire and agate or jasper beads. It's fun wearing jewelry that I made myself to coordinate with my clothes. And I love gifting my sisters and nieces. Any other crafty lassies out there?
