Plus the bag has an entry pocket that sits against my back that I can tuck my wallet and phone into if I have any doubts. The leather bags are bound to be heavier than the nylon. </p> <p>The leather are "going into town" bags (whatever the reason).&nbsp;</p> <p>The nylon is especially useful when you are doing some considerable walking around that <i>might </i>result in going somewhere where you will actually be seen (ha ha!!) or then again, might not. That is, you can wear it on a (non-camping type) suburban hike as easily as in town, even though it's a bit flashy. Even crossbody bags put pressure on my left shoulder/base of my neck, which is also the area where my camera strap rests -- I wear my camera slung across my body, crossbody-bag style, and even though I bought a smaller mirrorless camera last year, by the time I attach my preferred lenses to it, it doesn't save me a lot of weight on my shoulders, and this is an issue for me as I get stiff in the neck and shoulders very easily.
