Returning is expensive, so I try to avoid it as much as possible by:</p> <p>- reading Angie's descriptions on the Top Picks<br />- carefully reading every letter of the description on the Nordstrom website <i>and</i> the reviews too<br />- thoroughly checking the size charts (usually quite good at Nordstrom, but occasionally not accurate, as is the case with the Tahari Tessa coat this year)<br />- carefully reading all the reviews, comments and questions from other forum members about the items I am interested in + looking at pictures of the items modelled by our own forum members<br />- if necessary calling (or live chat) Nordstrom, sometimes they have extra item info, sometimes not<br />- asking questions on the forum to get extra info &gt; sometimes someone who wears similar sizes has bought the item, and that can be extremely helpful, but even if forum members wear smaller or larger sizes, the info is still very helpful (ETA:very thoughtful forum members have actually gone to the store to try on or measure an item for me (at home or in the store), so definitely ask extra questions if you are not sure:-)<br />- I have ordered from Nordstrom before and am more familiar with some of the brands now and/or I already have something from the same brand in my closet.
