Just wanted to let you know that I bought this jacket at Presale after seeing your first pick, it looked so fab! The sleeves were too long for me as well, so I also ordered in petite. May need to make the same decision, so I'm curious what you find out about altering the sleeves.

I am just so happy that you have decided to go for this leather jacket, Nancy. The colour, the fit, the style... It is perfect for you (I too preferred the regular, do keep us posted).

Putting in a vote for the Halogen in the regular! I don't think that it is the length difference in the body that is the issue, but rather the cut of the v-neckline going down the front of your body. The regular size (IMO) looks much more slimming (than the petite) and really elongates your torso! So flattering!

You're the best judge of how you feel about the sleeve length and whether the length and lower stance make as much difference in RL as they do in a picture. But, I've got to say, that I'm really glad that you are keeping the Chanel-style jacket. It's a different look, to be sure, than your regular style, but that's what keeps us from wearing the same silhouette over and over again to the point of boredom. That Chanel jacket really looks fabulous on you.

Just echoing the comments about leather creasing up in the arm - when I've had my sleeves shortened at Danier, they always make them about half an inch longer than I would think correct to allow for that elbow crease.

Well, I'm glad you are keeping one of them and the Chanel-esque. I'm still plugging for the longer one... and you never know, each individual piece is always different. You might find a regular with better sleeves for you.

I think the sleeves on the regular are fine actually. You can still see your fingers which is my metric for these things. I know I am in the minority though as I like my jacket sleeves to be really long and people here are always telling me to shorten my sleeves, LOL. I don't like my wrists to show, like, ever, when I'm wearing full length sleeves.

And Zap is right, the creasing at the elbow would shorten the sleeve a bit as you wear it.

Side note: You might wanto to consider what kind of scrunch will the leather develop, as the sleeves get that crease mark from bending your elbows. I would leave the sleeve a smidget longer just to make sure I am not ending up with a shorter sleeve.
Did Angie think the sleeves on the regular were too long?

I agree with you, Nancy, in that the difference between the two is marginal. I would be just as thrilled if you kept the petite. It's just a great style on you.

A million thanks for all the encouragement and advice with my two jackets yesterday. I was so happy and excited, I could barely sleep! Anyway, I decided I will still keep the Halogen since it's a great deal, and has such a different vibe from the Chanelesque jacket.

The consensus here was that the regular, non-petite size hit me at a better length. I decided I will go to Nordstrom tomorrow, where they still have the regular in stock, and see what type of alterations would be possible to the sleeves, what that would entail in work and cost.

If it would be too costly or hard or impossible to do, I will stick with the petite. The length difference in the body is fairly negligible to my eye, while in my unprofessional opinion, really long sleeves, even cuffed, are going to do worse damage to the visual line of this sleek jacket than the cropped length.

I'll let you all know what they say, of course. Regardless, I truly appreciate people's feedback here. Thanks again.
