Before that I was beginning to think about aiming for 20 wears just as a sort of self-discipline as I had a horrible feeling a lot of my items were worn well less than that- and I had already been tracking for a number of months by then. I usually make any lists I need on my phone, since I take that everywhere with me, but doing things by hand makes sense so long as you remember to bring the piece of paper along with you (not that I speak from experience or anything lol). </p> <p>So do you usually aim for at least 30 wears per item? Or does it vary according to how much it cost to begin with etc? I understand that feeling of 'sunk' cost - especially when you start paying more for quality items! Often only a couple of wears per season so it could take 15 years to get to 30 wears!<br /> Working on it... changed into a dress for a business meeting last night rather than staying in the top and pants, clocked up an extra wear.<br /> At least I know now not to buy more dresses or skirts without a MAJOR reason like last year’s MOB dress. And if I do decide to ditch some before 30 wears, I won’t beat myself up. No YLF all day today, long day at work and a brief visit from a friend this evening.<br /> It has been a lot of work, and I guess I don’t have many hobbies really.<br /> Zaeobi, I made my lists on paper and have stuck to that. I made one list for summer clothes and one for autumn/winter/spring, then 2 similar lists for shoes.<br /> Each page says:<br /> Item, Date ( bought, just what year), Wears- pre 2018, 2018, 2019, 2020, Cost, and Cost per wear, along the top of the page.<br /> Then the clothes are listed down the left hand side, in groups:<br /> Layering tops, Other tops, Shirts, Pants, Vests and Waistcoats, Jumpers and Cardies, Jackets and Coats, Tunics, Dresses, Skirts - that’s the autumn/winter/spring list. A spreadsheet could be similar but I didn’t feel like going to a computer every day to track wears, I just make tally marks. I also take the lists with me when I shop. I do rewrite them every so often when they get all messy!<br /> As for culling, my issue was too slow to cull and not ruthless enough. Sometimes with some things I have done a bit of forcing myself to wear them and then I like them again. The mistakes like the too high hardly worn shoes were hard to let go of and took several tries. Addressing negative shopping and wardrobe management habits takes a lot of time , emotional energy and thoughtfulness.....and kudos to you for putting in the work. &nbsp;Being able to walk by a store window without feeling tempted is a great thing. &nbsp;My version of this , which has been helped by pandemic-related store closures, is that if I don't see it, I don't care. Each of us has a different need for variety and each has different roles to fill and needs clothing for those roles. You are a busy professional with a full family life. And now, after weeding out some chaff and replenishing with itmes that fill actual needs, you have a wardrobe that largely works for you, rather than against you, and that is something to celebrate!
