*wipes coffee off phone re: Darth Vader*
I'm with you about not making any drastic changes. With the masks on and trying to avoid people as much as possible, who is even looking at our hair?
My last proper cut was January, and I've trimmed off split ends a bit since. It really doesn't seem to be growing that much :/

LOL, you're so right with the "Breathing like Darth Vader...".Not used to wearing a mask once (at the very beginning) it even hit me an allergic caugh (which I never had before!) followed by panic attack while at my bank! People were thinking I was irresponsibly spreading COVID around...OMG, never felt that embarrassing in my life!

I got first cut since early march this past Tuesday!! I have embraced the menopausal curlier hair (always had straight hair) and had it trimmed up - I have used very little heat over the past 6 months. it is a lot longer than I used to wear it! but I m liking it. it felt so good to get a trim.now that I know I can go more than my past which was every 5 weeks, I will keep that in mind.

My hairdresser texted that she's getting ready to reopen soon. I'm going to wait a few more weeks, and I'm going to try to find a different stylist. For the time being I'm going to continue to grow out my hair--now collar-bone length. I need a trim for the ends but it can wait. No way is my life and health worth a trim.

I bought some new electric rollers and some heat protectorate spray. So far not going well. I need to practice!

Again I'll wait and see what happens. If there are new outbreaks, I will be sad but also relieved that I waited. It's not like I'm going anywhere important anyway.

What I really, really want is a pedicure. That will come before a hair cut.

Agree with Phoebe—social distancing makes for good experimentation! But I’m not doing anything different, just trying to remember to braid my hair or sweep it up so the different colors make an interesting texture

Shevia, lol, yes! I got the basics but absolutely nothing more when the radiologist explained my x-ray recently.

I’ve had only 1 cut since January, and that was in July. I wore a shaped mask that follows the contours of my face, and I picked a non-distracting colour and pattern during the cut. I’m growing it out so that it can be pulled back or put up. The going is slow due to #curlyhair. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be changing my hairstyle if it wasn’t for activity related precautions around the pandemic.

I am leaving my hair long-for-me for the duration of the pandemic. It's about at my shoulders and I'm just doing occasional maintenance trims. The mask is much more cooperative with hair in a bun or ponytail (especially the around-the-head styles, which I find work much better if I'm going to be wearing one for several hours at a time). It's been a looong time since I've had hair long enough to pull back, and I've been getting really into scrunchies, clips and claws the past few months. I've been waffling about my bangs. I've been keeping them straight across, but when I put on a mask I end up feeling like just a pair of eyes peeking out, so I might let the bangs grow out and re-evaluate in the spring...

I’ve had mine cut exactly once since early February- I guess in July. He came to my house and cut it on my porch, I adore him. My big change is I’m letting it go silver! So I asked him to leave it longer, still only to between jaw and my shoulders, I don’t have long hair, so I can put it up. Seems to make the demarcation line less evident. And the line is so there. Due for another trim, pretty sure I won’t waver and get it colored.

I had already decided to grow my hair longer before the stylists closed their shops, but have been able to get it trimmed twice now, I’m happy with the longer length because I can pull it back into a pony tail, or wear it down. I think my stylist cuts my hair in a slightly different way each time regardless of what I would want. The hard part right now is judging how much she is trimming because my hair looks so much longer when is wet, and she cannot dry it and then finish the cut.....

I got my hair cut last weekend. It had been 8 months since my last cut, as I was due for one the day we went into stay-at-home orders. I decided not to make any changes, too. Just getting rid of unhealthy ends and reshaping the rest. Could you style your hair differently as it grows out? Or perhaps explain to your stylist what you don’t like about the way it grows out? Perhaps a small change would make you happier with it in the interim, while you wait for a post-pandemic hair cut.

OR, if you have a good stylist who's cut your hair before, you could describe the effect you want, and maybe show some pictures but not tell them how to achieve the result.

The current more subdued social atmosphere could be exactly the right time to try something different. Less pressure if you have to wait a few weeks to like it and a little thrill if you love it right away.

The mask in the salon is annoying but we've all taken turns gasping and sweating by now so maybe don't let that get in your way.

After missing basically six haircuts (whoever heard of being able to put a pixie cut in a ponytail???), I was finally able to get mine cut a week ago Saturday. I'm pretty sure it's a slightly different style -- a bit shorter. We were both paranoid that hairdressers would get shut down again, so extra short is fine with me. And now that we've been having a heat wave (90s-100+ F) with no AC, I'm grateful that she took the clippers to the back. I said no the the sideswept longer on one side she'd kinda been doing; not compatible with masking and/or missing haircuts.

Tip: Yes, to woven vs. knit, but don't wear denim, esp. denim jumpsuit to an outdoor haircut on a windy day! I had hair down the back, up the legs, and up the sleeves of my boiler suit. It took an hour to pick off. The super lightweight disposable drape she had to use did absolutely nothing in the face of the wind.

Salons were allowed to open this Friday for the first time, but I haven’t received a communique from my salon, so I have no plans. I suppose I should actually check that they haven’t called it quits... but I’m ok. My hair is very long and shaggy, but the one saving grace is I can pin it up. I really like it up and off when it’s hot. I’d have to shave my head to get it short enough for me.

Hah, I requested a tiny change with more layers but the result isn't great. Either the stylist isn't that good (I go to a salon where it's always someone else) or she just had a hard time shaping around my hidden jawline :p. So good call!

It’s not THAT exciting.

I’ve had one haircut during pandemic, about 4 mos or so in, and am ok with having more. I had my hair guy just do the same short cut.

As this cut grows out, and with my usual blow- drying, it starts to look somehow too round and bowl- headed and somehow stodgy, not as “ casual “ or fun as I would like. So, have been feeling the need for a change and had been looking at example hairstyles, something more wispy or new layers. ( I have issues though with anything falling across my face, no side- swept bangs or such, so that makes it harder to have tousled elsewhere). I was also considering trying a new stylist.

But then I remembered the MASK. So, the whole experience of messing with your hair, saying what about more of this, less of that, seeing how it frames your face, is totally messed up. Breathing like Darth Vader while trying to show sample pics.

So, I plan to continue same cut for now. I was actually relieved to decide on a plan. I can accept that it may be fear of change! But I think it’s saving this experience for a time when it can be fun, and if it didn’t turn out great it wouldn’t be that stressful to tidy up on another visit, and so on.
