I blowdry most every day to straighten it, but give it a rest on weekends (and look like a fright or go to the ponytail). I love straightened hair ... It suits my style and my face cut, but I'm afraid that I'll ruin my natural texture in this obsession for 'straight &amp; sleek'. </p> <p>Unlike Coco, I don't have any patience for flat ironing my hair after every wash. Too much effort. So I took the easier way out to get permanent straightening &amp; smoothening. It lasts 9-11 months and during that time, my hair is always wash-and-go fabulous. But IT IS hard chemicals that do the way, and that has made my hair very dry, brittle &amp; damaged. </p> <p>Coco - if you want low maintenance waves that look good, it's all about using the right products that you can apply on wet/dry hair and scrunch them. Talk to your stylist about it. </p> <p>@Janet - thank you so much for chiming in. I loved every word you wrote; I feel exactly the same. For years I've fought my natural hair. The simplest way to tame it was to put it up. Recently, I noticed that putting up my hair in a pony only made my (1) forehead look huge (2) every enlarged pore on my skin show more (3) emphasized how round and weird my nose is Ok....I'm sure some of you are laughing reading this....but it's true. I feel like my 'hair' is my crowning glory. When it frames my face, it softens my features and makes me look more 'me'. </p> <p>And since I want to give my hair time to heal &amp; repair, this cut is the BEST thing that happened. The stylist said I'd probably fall in love with my wavy hair within 6 months. If not, she could straighten it again.....but she sure hopes it doesn't come to that. We will see! </p> <p>Btw Janet - I saw a WIW from you the other day where your hair looked beautifully wavy. That was the day I booked this appointment.
