I talked it over with my hairdresser and she thought shortening the layers a bit would take care of my concern regarding the healthiness. I kept the bangs but shortened the layers and evened up the back. It feels soft and smooth again. I asked Tony what he thought and he told me that the he loved it long and it was the first pic that he remembers as being his favorite. </p> <p>The one big advantage of it being long is that I can put it in a ponytail to run but I find it is getting dry looking and if I lighten it too much, it is worse. </p> <p>I think I will get a fair bit removed from the ends for now (1-1.5") and use treatments to strengthen it for the next month and then decide whether to go short again.</p> <p>Thank you all for your opinions. Then I met some friends - one from Vancouver that I haven't seen in over a year - and two of the ladies commented on how much they loved my longer hair and when I said I was getting it cut short made me promise not to.</p> <p>Now I am undecided again. I thought I would add a few pics from over the years at different lengths and colors and ask for opinions.</p> <p>FIrst is long and light from about 6 years ago. Second is shorter but not light from a couple years ago. Third is shorter and highlighted and last is recently.</p> <p>So what do you think? Short or long and dark or light? I am leaning towards getting the layers shortened by at least an inch and the bangs trimmed but not lightening. I noticed as I went through pics that when my hair was really light, I didn't look as good in my bright pinks and teals. </p>
