Thanks manivilla. I didn't have enough time to finish drying my hair today, and it was very cold and windy, so it didn't look too great. Perhaps this weekend I will take a few snaps! It's amazing how dramatically a haircut can boost one's confidence.

I don't know what happened to the reply I left yesterday. I guess it didn't come through.

Anyway, I guess it doesn't matter to rewrite everything I wrote because I already got my haircut. Angie, my stylist recommended nearly the same thing you did. She said my layers were way too long, so I just gave her a blank check to do whatever was best for my hair. Even though she left the overall length, I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I saw how short the layers were going. But when she was done, I was amazed. It looks so much thicker. When I pull it back, it looks like I have a little bob from the front, which is also kind of fun.

I do have a flat iron and I asked her if I needed one, and she said probably not. I guess it's going up on ebay. Nicole, I also have one of those ionic driers. I'm going to try drying my hair differently and see if that helps.

Mayapple, I think you are beautiful. You have a very exotic look!

I just bought a Conair Ion Shine Ceramic hairdryer. I find that all the claims of ceramic ion hairdryers are true. THis hairdryer does seem to make my hair shinier and less frizzy looking. (It also dries my hair in about half the time it used to take). I was reluctant to try one these dryers because of the price tag...I didn't want to spend alot of money to find out it really didn't make a difference. But when my old dryer died, I found this one at CVS for $25, so I picked it up. Maybe something like this will help make you happier with the texture of your hair.

Mayapple, I just went short about 6 months ago, and the secret to my success was to have my stylist give me a step-by-step tutorial in how to fix my hair and what products to use. Now I feel confident in fixing my short hair myself and am happy with the look.

Wow. You have absolutely beautiful eyes and the best, best, best eyebrows! You are a lucky girl. I’m by no means a hair expert Maya, but I’d go a little shorter, but not short (take off 3 inches), go a lot choppier with shorter layers, add a lot more texture to the style and consider that new retro fringe. Almost a 70’s look. You’re a graphic designer right? You’d suit a funky haircut. Have you tried flat ironing your hair? Your hair texture sounds similar to mine and the flat iron saves me daily. (They cost $30 at any drugstore). How do you feel about that suggestion?

I have fine, frizzy hair that's not stick straight but doesn't qualify as wavy either. It's flat, flyaway, and tangles easily. A short cut seems like it would be best for me, but I had short hair when I was younger and it really did not suit me. I have a rather prominent nose and I think it draws attention to it, and it looked like a helmet. That said, what kind of cuts flatter a larger nose?

Here is a picture from when my hair was a bit longer than it is now (I goofed around too much on the webcam at work...):

http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....oto3-1.jpg

Currently my hair is shoulder length with layers that are a bit below my chin. All suggestions welcome..
