He probably has no clue how hurtful he was. Don't waste another second worrying your gorgeous head about it! I have salt and pepper hair ( a little heavier on the salt). Every time I go for a haircut my stylist and I talk about how we wish it were the same color as yours. Yours is so striking! But once in a while, faced with a comment like this, I've simply said, "I beg your pardon?" I would encourage you, if you ever encounter this type of comment in the future, not to give an excuse but simply to state it was your choice and maybe add that you like it. He has not seen me since I stopped coloring my hair. And first thing that came out of his mouth after more than 4 years was - "what is going on, please color your hair" I was hurt and upset. I was actually having a good hair day and feeling pretty good until then. I told him that I am alergic and that I can't color it any more. And that is true but not even the main reason anymore. Would it be the same if I asked him why doesn't he grow his hair back ? ;) And actually this is not the first time that he said something inappropriate and hurtful . He was my boss when I was pregnant and when I returned to work after maternity leave, first thing that he said was that I gained weight and that I should do something about it. Anyway, I just had to went and I know that you guys would understand. Except, since the cut is so good, when you are ready for your next cut I probably would schedule it with the same stylist. And when you sit down say how much you loved the cut but hated the push for coloring, product, etc. so much that you almost didn't come back. So, to please not mention any of it.
