You are gorgeous, the hair, and that smile! Your hair is pretty when worn open like this, it's got a style and it suits you. Is your DH's complain mainly because your pony tail? If its just a scrunch pony , then I can see it doesn't "go" with your otherwise sophisticated look.

If you want to have some fun and create new styles for your slightly long-ish hair, I'd recommend Goody brand "spin pins" and their U-pins as well. I'm terrible at doing my own hair and have found these hair accessories very useful and easy to use when trying to come up with something 'new-ish' that doesn't require me learning how to do complicated hair styles.

Spin Pins:

http://www.goody.com/Products/.....Spin%20Pin

U-pin that I found works beautifully:

http://www.goody.com/Products/.....ern%20Updo

These things can be found in most grocery stores, pharmacies/drugstores and the like. Two of those 'spin pins' does the work of umpteen bobby pins, and makes short work of any up-do you might like to try. Same with those U-pin thingamabobs that I mentioned in the second link.

I am not very good at doing my own hair, but these two gizmos help when I want to try something new, without a whole lot of work on my part.

They're just $3 to about $5 or so, and come in colours that match your hair.

I'd have a look online to see what haircuts you are drawn to - maybe take a few to your hairdresser & ask them if the cuts would work with your hair & face shape.

My closet is currently in a good place and while I do have a few needs for autumn winter, I'm happy with what I have. But a few days back my husband remarked that while my wardrobe is impeccable, maybe my hair needs to 'go' with my look. When I asked him to explain, he explained that while my hair is beautiful, maybe I shouldn't wear my same old ponytail with every outfit and change my hair according to my outfit once in a while?

I really think what he said makes sense. I have wanted to establish a hairstyling routine as well, but I have no idea where to start. I have always worn my hair open (naturally air dried) or tied in a ponytail. I have never used any hair products or any gadgets like a straightener or curling iron or even a blow dryer on my own.

I would love to learn a few simple updos, buns or fancy ponytails which would help me get my hair off the back of my neck and still look like I made an effort. Do you guys have any tips and tricks/your tutorials I can learn from? I would also love recommendations for a blow dryer. Oh and a straightening iron. I wouldn't use it daily, but for special outings with hubby! Any ideas on must have hair products to create simple hairstyles would also be appreciated.

Here's a general idea about my hair type - I have naturally straight-ish hair that comes slightly below my shoulders. I wash it every other day since it tends to get greasy. Oh and it's black with reddish brown streaks! I'm adding some pictures so you can see it

Thank you for helping! I really need it!
