I wish I could give you some decent suggestions Patience, but I'm totally clueless when it comes to (long) hair. I do like your idea of just going with what your hair naturally tends to do. (love the sound of the curly with large soft waves).

There, no help at all;-)

Taylor, if I'm ever in San Francisco, I will come see you.

I don't know if it helps but the one thing I am consistently told about my hair is "You have A LOT of hair." My sister visited last month and she has the fringe I want-- covers the forehead, on the long side and blends on the side. It's the original Katie Holmes fringe, I think. But my sister has less hair than me and her hair is much straighter. I have a hard time looking at pictures and choosing something. I don't really have a good feel for what will look good on me. I'm wondering if the way to go is somewhere in between straight and curly with large soft waves. This is kind of where my hair seems to go naturally. Too straight and it's flat, too curly and it's poofy. I'm sure the secret is figuring out how to get the right texture consistently.

Thanks for all of your help. I will definitely keep trying different things.

OK..you and Maya, catch a plane to California ....:) Just kidding.

My only suggestion is to find a photo of a style you love..or parts that you love...ask your stylist what she recommends for you, and what might work with your *sorta* curly hair. Wish I could just get my fingers in there:)

You have it right though, too short and *wow* they just curl right up and won't go straight... without alot of work..too long, and they lose the curl....must find that sweet lenghth:) keep us posted and good luck:)

Sounds like you and I are bangs twins Patience. I'm not sure what the solution is for that. Personally, I'm growing mine long (not growing them OUT, just growing them longer). But I don't have the curl issue. Maybe Taylor will know.

I think your last haircut with the soft round wavy curls looked beautiful. Hair can change a lot when it grows out, even if it's just a month. I have found that since cutting my hair short, I am a lot more aware of how it changes within just a few weeks, but I can't afford to get it cut every month so I just deal with it. Anyway, do you think it's just a matter of getting it cleaned up and reshaped? Maybe a short but thin layer on top will help keep things bouncy and curly..but I know nothing about curly hair so I could be way off base.

Oh you are going to feel so good when you get your hair trimmed. I know how it feels to have hair that is not quite curly enough. I thought your hair looked very curly last time you posted a picture but I know how the heat and humidity can change the curl.
I don't have any good ideas for you, just wanted to say that after you go to your next hair appt I'm sure you will feel great. The bangs in the eyes are no fun.

Edit: to our UK and Ausie members, sorry I said, "The bangs in the eyes are no fun"! I know how that makes your cringe! HaHa!

I have a hair appointment coming up and I'm still searching for that killer 'do. Any ideas or suggestions? I really have no idea what to go for. I am planning on having my fringe trimmed which for various reasons has not been trimmed in a long time and are more "sweepies" now. I'm not really sure what to do about them, though. If I cut them too short, they are a bear to get straight-- they curl up. But if they are too long I end up pushing them (and then they curl) to the side to stay out of my eyes. The layers that were cut last time have actually worked well I think. I have been wearing my hair curly, but it is really not *that* curly and ends up straightening out on the top layer and the bottom layer.

Thanks for your help.
