Robin - I know innersense has curl products. I will leave that to the curly girls to input. the love prep that is linked in finds is a heat protectant. I spray is on hands and run it through then use the smoothing cream on top concentrated on midshaft to ends.

I stopped straightening my wavy hair about 8 or so years ago and then stopped coloring about 3 years ago and since then have decided that I can live with some frizz. I don't have the patience to diffuse dry my hair so let it air dry each day but don't get it totally soaked every day either. It wouldn't be worth it for me to spend a lot on these kinds of tools - but I do spend plenty on trying to find the "perfect" curl products! The Innersense lines get positive buzz from curly blogs I have read.

Did you use a protecting spray when you were using the straightener you like? That is supposed to help a lot.

Brooklyn - glad you are also a ghd fan. They do make great products. Its a bristle thing on the brush. If you have fine hair I think we need a combo of synthetic and natural bristles to get grip and tension so we can pull it straight.
Anne - I am trying to strip out unnecessary and potentially carcinogenetic out of my environment - hence not hair dye. I think from feedback the chemicals certainly work, I do suggest doing your do diligence and make sure the process is acceptable to you. I've done a deep dive into health and wellness with covid and I am biased and not one to input on this!!
Rachy - you got to want it bad to spend this much!! But if I'm not paying for color then I had the money to invest on trying to get what I want, but it's an arduous process!!
Bijou - thank you for the product recommendations! I do love the dyson, I do think product and type of brush make a huge difference. I'll see if I can link my favorite brush when I get home!
Jamie - exactly. It's what's important to you. Mild cleanser and sunscreen and I'm done...
pirouette - exactly with the chemicals...Agree I did not like the airwrap, looking to rehome with someone who will appreciate but did like the dryer, if I could have fit a condenser on that I would have been happy.

I have shoulder length fine hair but lots of it and it’s wavy. Frizz is a constant battle due to all the damp and wet weather in Ireland. I have Dyson wrap which I don’t find any good. The only part of this I use is the rounded brush but it’s not great. I also have the Dyson hairdryer and I feel while it’s the best hairdryer I have used it still doesn’t get rid of frizz no matter which products I use. I did have the GHD straightner but I could hear my hair sizzle when I used it and it made my hair even more frizzy. We call flatiron a straightner. I also have had the Babyliss rounded brush in the past that broke and I found that to be quite good but I upgraded to the Dyson air wrap thinking that works better but definitely not for me. I think I will go back to the Babyliss but I feel bad about spending so much as the Dysons are very expensive in Ireland. My hair is in fairly good condition and I am afraid to try the Brazilian blow dry as they use a lot if chemicals and it can be damaging to your hair.

I love this thread and recommendations - frizz is definitely an issue for my hair and the reason that I use a ceramic straightening iron on my hair most days - I use it to add curl and defrizz my naturally wavy hair.

I use products and a straightening iron by Eleven Australia, bought because this is what my hairdresser uses and they are cruelty free and PETA approved. I use the "Keep my Colour Blonde" range, to stop my hair going brassy between hairdressing visits.

About Us - Brand Story – ELEVEN Australia

Before this, I used a GHD and liked that too. I find both straightening irons are good, my GHD broke, which is why I bought the Eleven as a replacement. I have bought curling wands and heated rollers which I never use, my straightening iron is much better.

Brooklyn, I have not used this product, but Eleven do a product called "Frizz Control Shaping Cream" it may be worth a try.

FRIZZ CONTROL SHAPING CREAM 150ML – ELEVEN Australia. Having lived in Sydney, the humidity was terrible for me trying to style my hair, Perth is a much drier climate, it is only humid when it is raining.

I have been looking at getting a new hairdryer and was questioning whether the Dyson would be worth the money, great to know that it comes highly recommended. I would love to be able to just blow dry my hair, but the skill evades me.

Excellent reviews. Maybe I should have gone with the drybar, but the one my stylist got me is fine. I had a 19.99 Conair from Ross and that was actively terrible. My stylist herself has a Dyson and loves it, but I barely use the dryer as is; I’m not that serious.

Have you considered a Brazilian Blowout? I have generally straight-ish hair, but always seem to have new growth frizzies. Plus, any gray hairs that come in generally aren't straight, either. My stylist said a Brazilian Blowout might be a good option to eliminate my frizz. I have fine hair, but a decent amount of it, and she said I would probably only need to do it once a year and that it shortens blow-dry time, too.

I have fine hair with a very determined, deep wave that easily turns to frizz in humidity.

I aim for a smooth, slightly wavy look, rather than dead flat.

I use a parlux dryer and a GHD flat iron.

The GHD is amazing. I’ve tried other flat irons and they just bounce off my hair.

I use Olaplex hair products (including the bond smoother). I’m pretty happy with those. My hairdresser says my hair is in good condition. But they don’t prevent humidity frizz.

*Has anyone found an effective anti-humidity spray to use after straightening?*

Gryffin, thanks for the advice about the GHD airbrush. I was thinking about that one for touch ups.

Style Fan - thank you for chiming in. If I did not love the reserve I would try the babyliss brush. My hairdresser uses their blowdriers. That makes such great products. I used to have a mini travel dryer by then till my son “appropriated” it. It’s sick we need to try every appliance out their until we find “the one”. Thank you for the product Recs. I’m going off to look them up.

Thanks for the info.
I mentioned on your NAS thread that I had tried every hot air brush out there. I have a drawer full of them. Some I have given away. For my hair, the best is Babyliss. I have two sizes. I also use a Chi flat iron. My blow dryer is a T3. I rarely use it.
I rotate shampoo, conditioner and products. Right now, I am using Aloxxi shampoo, Aloxxi conditioner and Moroccan Oil Mousse. I don't know what I will use next.
I have fine hair, and it is medium thickness. When I am stressed, my hair starts getting thinner, and that happened a few years ago. My hair does seem to be getting thicker, but I don't expect it ever to be as thick as it once was.
My hair has some wave to it and is pretty healthy. I have never coloured it. I wash it every three days. I blow dry the bangs and let the rest air dry unless I am going somewhere special.

Cardiff girl - just know recliner was the original. I’m so glad it works for you. I hear it runs quite hot and I have very fine hair so that was my concern. But tons of great reviews. I got the dyson air wrap as an open box special on Amazon and had Amex points to offset. Yes, I would not have paid full price. And it was a really good offer. I thought it would be a mess but it was pristine in condition. I think it’s best value if you can use all the components. I’m not a beachy wave girl. But I loved the dryer and at that point the brushes and blow out were smoother than I could achieve. So I used that for a year but the brushes have no grip so you need to hold the hair taut and the appliance. You can’t buy a concentrator for the dryer attachment though so the dryer alone did not work well for me. I would watch y-t tutorials see if someone has similar hair type. I have seen dyson run sales.
Angie - I caved an bought the dyson stick vac when the pandemic started since my cleaning ladies could not come. It’s fab. Love it.
Carla - Thanks for product and tips. I gave wonky bangs. I’m going to check out the VS solutions. That sounds great!!
Star - I saw that z as bout the name on the site. Very clever and memorable. I love the flat iron. I just try not to use it too much. They make excellent products.

I had super frizzy hair in humidity and have found through the years that the only anti-frizz product that really works must have the main ingredient cyclopentasiloxane. Also my GHD straightening iron is an item I could not live without. It works so well that I do not have to run it over my hair too much, two or three times does the trick, so not much damage. Of course never on wet or even slightly damp hair! Do you know GHD stands for Good Hair Day? - I totally agree :) No other straightening irons have worked as well on my hair.

I appreciate this, because last winter I finally achieved some success with doing a straight blow dry (at 60+yo better late then never ) but there is room for improvement! It’s worth the effort, because if I’m not swimming, the blow-out lasts a week.

For me, it’s products that make the difference. I paid the $$ and got exactly what my stylist uses - AG set it straight (smooth) on clean hair before blow out, and Redken Hot Sets 22 Thermal Setting Mist as I flat iron.

These days I’m using Avalon Organics (shampoo and conditioner) - Lemon version to remove residue and Lavender for normal/dry hair. The blow dryer and flat iron are nothing special but I like using a Conair teflon(?) coated round brush after rough drying my hair with a vented brush. I do have a tiny flat iron (Solutions by Vidal Sassoon) that I used for my bangs and to straighten cowlicks when my hair was short - that is great for touch ups.

I’m game for changing up the dryer and flat iron for physically lighter versions, since my right shoulder can be problematic and thick hair means the process can be a workout!

FWIW, in summer I use Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Envy Cream for large soft curls, and Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel for strong hold ringlets, and a cocktail of the two most days - and air dry.

I find the revlon revolving hot brush brillant. It s great if you find blowdrying with a round brush too hard on your arms and is the nearest. Can manage to a salon blow dry at home. It’s very reasonably priced too.l got mine off Amazon.
l am interested to hear your views on the Dylon air wrap. Here in the uk it’s eye wateringly expensive so not something one can just casually try out.It doesn’t sound like you are that impressed with it.

or in other words, how many appliances and products can gryffin buy to elinimate frizz...

I put a thread on the anniversary sale about the drybar reserve 3 in 1 hot brush. As hair keeps coming up, I thought I would post and ask others to add on appliances they found helpful, paricularly in achieving smooth frizz free hair.

Back story, I stopped coloring my hair at the start of the pandemic. I'm about 15-20% silver and my hair is naturally fine with a wave but the grays are curlier and frizzier. I now own a lot of products and egregiously expensive appliances so I thought I would share in case it would be helpful.

Products:
Prior while coloring I was a big fan of Davines Love shampoo and conditioner. My natural hair did not like it and I am transitioning to organic products acrosss the board. For fine hair I highly recommend Innersense products - for fine hair below. Work well very pleased. Well rated on safety EWG.org

Dryers and tools:
GHD Flat iron - I like this very much. Hot but not too hot. But my hairdresser really cautioned against regular use so special ocassion and touch ups only and dry hair only
GHD Brush - would not buy again. The rubber bristles have zero grip on hair. Does the job but have trouble getting ends smooth. On dry hair only. Good for touch ups only. I'll probably donate.
Dyson airwrap - great for waves (which I usually don't want) really good dryer but small and does not have concentrator. The brushes do not work well because of the smooth and wide bristles. Much less frizz, was really loving the feel of my hair but I could not get it to style glass smooth...
Dryson dryer - best hair dryer ever Fast, powerful, does not scorch hair, less frizz, nice concentrator but in summer with humidity just wasn't getting the smooth I wanted despite products. I've had the T3 and loved the sedu revolution (which is also a professional dryer) but I still think the dyson dryer is the bomb. But it was not getting the frizz out.
Drybar Reserve 3 in 1 - I had see that the drybar single shot was on sale during NAS, since I wanted a smoother blow out I saw a lot of great reviews on the reserve as the attachments are changable - dryer, paddle brush and oval single shot size brush. Although I paid full price, I thought the quality, adjustability, heat control was not only excellent but it made my hair feel like silk. Even my husband complimented me on my hair, before he knew I used something new. I absolutely highly recommend it. I did though see drybar offer a 1/2 shot. My hair is jaw length front and wedged up in the back, a classic inverted bob with bangs. So I really wanted to try the ....
Drybar1/2 shot because the reserve single shot head feels big although it does a great job. Well it just came and the 1/2 shot is a totally inferior animal. The controls are cheap, the brush is cheap, the bristles started frizzing and my hair was frizzier and less smooth. Boxed it right back up. If you are going to drop cash the reserve is much more quality and 3 tools in one.

Please add any products or tools you have been sucessful with. These things are so spendy hopefully we can streamline the process and save each other some cash on the epic fails!! Yours in frizz...
