Maya, I am so bummed to hear about this. Did you not like it when she was done or is it now hard to manage on your own? I am sure there is a way to sort it out... I am doing much better myself.

Oh no! Sorry to hear, I guess you will need a nice collection of hair clips, barettes, and ties to get you through an awkward growing out period.

You may be just exagerating - this is what I usually do.
Sometimes I start obssessing over a change nobody else notices.
But I admit that the wrong hairdo is the most frustrating thing regarding style.

That happened to me too a year ago.. sometimes we ask only to trim the hair and they cut a lot and that can be a pain for curly hair.

Maybe straight the hair for some weeks until it grows, or buying fab product for curls or using a pony tail

I empathize. What's up with stylists? Can't they understand how stressful it can be to have your hair cut too short? How long it can take for some to grow it back to something acceptable?

I'm with Refugee on this: don't touch it for a week. Buy new hair products if you must do something.

Oh Maya, how disappointing. I've been there too, a couple of times in fact and it is so frustrating. I don't have any practical tips either. I will say that if you have ever deep down inside wanted to try a specific "risky", funky or short style or color this might be the time to do it. However, I really like Refugee's tip about not doing anything about it for at least a week. Maybe three.

I can only sympathize. I made the mistake of going to a walk in place to get a "trim". I just wanted it to last me until I could get to my stylist for a color and cut in December. It's been growing for a month and I can almost stand it now. I hope there is enough there to so he can give me a good style in a couple of weeks. I will say a couple of washings helped a little bit.

Empathy from me, too. I once went to a new stylist and asked her to layer the back of my hair (bottom inch only). I was obviously not clear enough as when I put my hand to my head, I found she'd layered the back to just above my ears. It took over a year to grow that mess out.

Give it some time and see if it settles.

Oh empathy from me. I've had my share of whatwasshethinking haricuts. The one thing I have learned is NOT to do anything about it for at least a week. I have made some rash decisions and made it worse. The good news is it's getting cold out so maybe you could wear some fun hats?

I just had my hair cut yesterday and I am totally re-living Scarlet's traumatic experience (although I don't look nearly as smashing as she did). I don't know what my stylist was thinking yesterday. I was just going in for general maintenance--a snip and a trim here and there.

But somehow she ended up way over-layering my hair. Not only does it look very flat and lifeless, but it won't wave anymore It's flat and bone straight on top, and then does this awful dorky flippy thing at the ends. I had to wear it up in a claw clip today at work because I was so horrified by how it looked.

I know there isn't anything much I can do, but thought it couldn't hurt to whine about it anyway. maybe some of you will have some tips on riding out a bad haircut...
