Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to continue to let it go back to it's natural color and see what it looks like. I don't think it's 100% silver yet but it's been so long it might be. I'll keep you posted on how it goes

I forget where I saw this (probably surfed some link somebody posted to my FB live feed) but there's some myth about this race of immortals that walks among us... and they all look youthful but have silver hair. And blue eyes. Do you have blue eyes?

So I vote "totally cool" ... especially if your hair is a lovely shade of silver and/or white, and you have a fashionable cut and dress stylishly, not like you've given up. It's all in how you wear it. At my hairdressers' there is a stylist who cannot possibly be older than 40 and she dresses uber stylish and has a close-cropped head of the most beautiful silver hair. She looks incredibly youthful to me.

So, I disagree that silver hair equals elderly! On the contrary, I think what ages one is the overall package... if one is wearing dated clothing, has obviously not been to the hairdresser in a year, has not maintained the color so that it is yellowed or dingy looking, and generally looks like they stopped caring about appearances overall, then THAT is what is aging.

In my late twenties I worked withal woman my age who had a beautiful silver bob. I thought she looked stunning and confident. I say enjoy it and use the money you're not spending to color it for a fabulous pair of shoes!

As is so often the case on this forum, what really matters is how *you* feel about it. The vibe you radiate will be the thing people notice most.

I have a friend who has had a full head of the most gorgeous silvery hair since she was in her mid-thirties - I always thought the gray had a surprisingly youthful effect on her - it highlights how youthful her face and figure are in comparison. In her case, the gray goes well with her skin tone.

It's not that you are too young, it's that it will make you look older. Silver hair is associated with eldery people. One of my colleagues wears her hair grey, and I haven't been for long in the office so I have never seen her sporting colored hair. She's a beautiful woman -she has a beautiful face- and dresses in a casual, fun and relaxed way (she's artsy), but I don't know how old she is and I probably think she's older than what she really is, and she doesn't even have that many wrinkles.

It depends on whether you are ok with looking older than other women your age that dye their hair or not.

Not in my opinion! It's all whether it looks good on you and many people who go silver young DO look good in silver hair, fortunately.

I applaud you for standing your ground if you like it.

OTOH, nothing wrong with covering grey, either, if that's preferred. (I do that myself, but I'm a lot older than you!)

Often people have age appropriateness rules for how they dress. Usually it is trying not to dress too young. Some also have issues with hair, shouldn't be too long after a certain age etc. Normally I just ignore most of the rules and go on my merry way, but recently have had a bit of a connundrum. I am 33 and have silver hair. (My family tends to silver early in life. I started at 25.) I have been coloring my hair for years because it was a fun and easy way to change my style. I have recently decided to let it go back to its original color just to see what it looks like. Holy cow I didn't realize this was a hot button for people. I have gotten more comments about being too young for silver hair than I ever did when I put purple streaks in it a few years ago. Even my hair dresser was taken aback when I told her I wanted to let it go natural. So my question is, is there a too young age for silver hair?
