Oh, good! I've been longing to take some length off. Going long (well, long for me) for summer was a nice change, but it will be fun to get back to the shorter, more inverted/angled cut. I have no problem going back to something that is familiar but really, really works.

Taylor, thanks a *million* for your expert opinions!

Marley, I appreciate your input on bangs. That's kind of what my thoughts are, too - I like a little bit of long, side-swept fringe to soften my forehead and also create a bit more texture in front. I think that bangs that are as short as yours are in your avatar photo would be too much hassle for me, but I'd like a bit more bang than I've been wearing.

Laura, my appointment is on Sunday this weekend, so come Monday I should be feeling much, much fresher!

I too like the idea of an edgier inverted bob! A very subtle change but super stylish!

Have you thought about changing the color at all? Red's cool and all, but I think a warm brown color would be really fun!

I agree too. Your hair is gorgeous as is, but a little shorter would be beautiful on you.

Yes - I agree with everyone else about the shorter bob - looks great on you! But I was looking at some of the pics on your blog - which shows you looking straight into the camera, and I think some bangs would really emphasize or bring out your gorgeous eyes and soften your forehead. I am not a hairdresser, but I'd go all the way with doing something different - and try a few bangs as well! (If you don't like them - you can push them to the side - and besides, they'll grow out pretty quickly to blend in with the side of your hair, if you want - and/or you could use a pretty hairpin to pin them to the side also.) I live dangerously with my hair - I love to try new things - its fun and always gives me a "lift!" I'm sure you'll look cute (cuz you are!) no matter what you do.

The severity of the angle can always be negotiated...a softer more subtle angle can work BUT texture and stacking are a must for a fabulous effect") Nothing less than KILLER for you:)

Oh Taylor, you are a GEM for jumping in so quickly. Thank you for your feedback!

So maybe I should print out the pictures of the shorter, more stacked haircut as in the last photo and take it in to my stylist - she's pretty good at re-creating previous cuts. I remember the cut being easier to manage when it was shorter.

(The only issue is that I think Boyfriend wasn't sure HE liked the steeper angle on that cut... but it's my hair, isn't it?)

Kari,
I LOVE your color ... so FAB and looks lovely on you! nice job:)

I also like your hair as is . but always interested in taking good to great!! I LOVE the last photo. the angle , lines, texture , depth and dimension looks just FAB in that photo. Looks like you have LOTS of texture in that photo:) Also the length is great. I like a bit more severe A-line as this photo indicate with stacking in the back!
You are gorgeous!!
Edit:
I wouldn't get too involved in bangs...I prefer the way they are off to the side, they open your face and have a nice effect. Unless you have a pixie or very short bangs , they require a bit of fussing and spraying into place.

Taylor, not to put you on the spot, but I very hope you'll chime in on this one as I'd love your expertise. I'd welcome other opinions too, of course.

I have an appointment with my stylist on Sunday and am wondering if I should go with my tried-and-true bob, or something different, or if I should just subtly alter my bob. Photos on my blog show what my hair looks like now.
I've more or less been getting an angled bob based on this cut for a while - obviously my hair's on the longer end at the moment.

(Examples One, Two, Three, Four, and Five from shorter variations of the same cut.)

If you were my stylist, what would you advise me to do based on your knowledge of my style, face shape, etc? While I'm not the type who panics about losing length, I'd prefer to stay within a few inches of chin length, and I'm open to exploring *some* bangs.

Taylor and other experts, if it helps to have more info on my hair type: My hair is kind of on the fine side, and I have a TON of hair, so it lies very flat without a lot of layers. Razor cuts work very well on me. I have a few odd cowlicks in my hair where when my cut grows out, it will "wrinkle" by my temple or flip out at the end in a random place - I usually keep these in check with a flatiron. I color my own hair with semi-permanent dye (Clairol) and it's in pretty good condition - not frizzed or splitting. I get very oily at the hairline if I go more than a day without washing.
