Curly girl checking in! I wash every 3-5 days, depending on how much I crushed my curls while sleeping. I will use different products on non-wash days depending on that same criteria, how much my curls crushed (unfortunately, my thin/fine hair = easy to flatten). All of my products are light and sulfate free, so they take quite a while to build up. I am still looking for truly "soft" products that work well with my hair, but this system does give me mostly touchable hair with good movement.

Wash day - heat protectant, foaming mousse at roots, curl crème. Blow dry 2/3, air dry 1/3, then fluff and go.

Non-wash day 1 - curls are usually fine, so I will simply use a powder dry shampoo. Focus on the crown, leave it in while I shower (and use a shower cap!), then ruffle/shake out hair after shower and go.

Non-wash days 2-5 - if curls aren't crushed AND I haven't flattened out my volume, I do the dry shampoo thing again. Otherwise: foaming mousse at roots (to add volume back in), and light curl crème mixed with a little water which I'll scrunch into the curls (to redefine crushed curls). If I've really destroyed the volume while sleeping, I'll also spray in some texture product along the crown. Hair is less than half wet at this point. Quick blow dry halfway, focusing on getting lift at roots rather than forming curls (the curl crème handles most of that). Air dry the second half (takes care of curls), then fluff hair out. Finger tease any parts that need a little more lift, and if they REALLY need some lift I'll use some powdered wax for the finger-teased bits as well.

EDIT: Ok so I just remembered that this is what I do with short hair. With the longer hair it was very different! Wash every 2-3 days. On wash day, simply use curl crème and work it all in the air dry (NO blow dry); fluff and go. On non-wash days, I used a little of the dry shampoo but not much because it was such a pain to shake it out; often I'd do a light curl crème touch up and let it air dry but if it just didn't want to behave, up it went. By day 3, it was up in a pony for sure

The whole point of being able to skip a day or two of washing for me is to not have to get all of my hair soaking wet and then have to use the hair dryer/straightener on it again. I try to use minimal products, but if I know I'll be shampooing the next day, I'll use as much as I want. It's really a process of trial and error.

Your hair is so naturally beautiful that you don't really need a lot of curling and products IMO, but you could go for a special look occasionally, like for a fun night out.

I'm kind of in between. I have wavy to almost curly hair but since I use a big curling iron to help smooth the curls, it ends up being more of a slightly wavy style. I use a leave in heat protector product from Kiehls after washing, and once it's dry and styled, I use mostly light oils to tame and sometimes Kiehls Silk Groom (the tiniest amount rubbed in the hands first, then smoothed onto hair on the back, lower part first, then ever so slightly in front). This allows me to go for at least 2 days without washing or rinsing unless I was active or outdoors a lot, etc. I don't really use a lot of any product though so it doesn't seem to build up or get oily, etc. I don't use additional product the second day. If I want to go a third day without washing, I just rinse and apply some conditioner in the shower and rinse it out. Then I may use a tiny bit more of the heat protector and repeat the usual process above.
Thanks for the responses. I did rewet the back just a bit today to reactivate the curl. But I put it up in a half bun/half ponytail for work so I wonder what's the point anyway. lol
I may save the products for fun nights out and stick with minimal for day to day.
What I really need to do is look into fun updo's for all my work time I have to put it up.

I also dislike hair that is "glued in", that does not move or that you can't run your fingers thru. As long as you are not getting that effect, I think you are good to go with adding a little more product and taming the frizz a bit.

I stopped wearing my hair naturally curly because I felt that I had to wash my hair too often to a- wash off all of that product buildup and b- have a chance of a decent curl.
I would say the less product the better. That product buildup is something I avoid like the plague. I cannot possibly wash my hair eveyday and allow to air dry, when I have to commute by foot, in cold weather.
I would just keep business as usual Mo. You have a beautiful curl as is, you migh end up becoming dependent on a product that is clearly not needed.

This is a constant problem for me. I can sometimes get second day hair if the first day netted good curls without a lot of frizz. If the curls still look good, sometimes I'll just shake it out a little. (Supposedly, mousse can be revived the next day with a little water. I don't use mousse, though - I find it drying for my hair.)

If my second-day curls are starting to get a bit wild, I might wet my hands (sometimes I add just a tiny, tiny dot of styling gel and rub my hands together) then gently pat my hair or very very lightly rake it through just a little, just to "revive" the hair. It doesn't always work. There are some spray products that claim to revive hair, but I haven't had much luck with them. I rarely get away with third-day curls.
I will sometimes use a dry shampoo (I've used Suave and Fekkai so far, still looking for my perfect one), sometimes I will use some B&B surf spray, and sometimes I just dampen my hair a little (especially the bangs) and restyle it with the blow dryer if I've made it go wonky by sleeping on it. It takes only a minute or so, so it saves time over a full wash, and it's not as hard on my hair. It never turns out quite as sleek as the day it's freshly washed, so sometimes I just go with the messier look (the surf spray).

I usually wear my hair up the second day. If I wear it down, I have to re-wet it, then apply more product. I've heard many different answers to this question, so I think you will have to use trial and error. Some people don't have to do a thing, and their hair looks just as good the second day. Hate those people! J/k but kinda not...

This may sound dumb, but what do you gals who use hair products do the next day, or the next, if you don't wash daily? Especially you curly girls. I rarely use products, but tried some Surf Spray mixed with my SexyCurlyHair detangler yesterday. Today I want to just wash my bangs. I usually put my hair up in a bun in the shower, wash around the face/bangs, and then comb through it when I'm done.
Now that I have some product in, should I slightly re-wet the back? Add more product? Rinse it all and start over? I hate the drying time of full wet hair, which is half the reason I don't wash daily. So, if product means a full rinse I likely won't jump on the product bandwagon.
What do you all do?
