Balayage probably would have been faster and I think I would have liked that. My stylist wanted to be more precise and had more confidence using the foils.....it was a trust building adventure for both of us. </p> <p>Thanks Cardiff Girl. I have known my stylist for years and I have only thrown surprises at her twice: once when I decided to have her cut it really short ( she does amazing short haircuts, but was nervous to do mine, because we had always done longer cuts and very similar styles) and a year ago when I said I wanted to stop coloring and go gray without a skunk stripe and asked, “So how do we do that?”</p> <p>Robin F, yup....a huge initial investment in time. It is a good thing all the people at the salon and I like each other so much.....it would have been a BIGGER challenge if our feelings towards each other were less than comfortable. Twice. We were concerned that a third attempt would damage the condition of my hair. We had been coloring it for 30 years. Then she went in and heavily added highlights. Getting from step 1 to step 2 took a total of 7 hours, over two days, but she really blended the highlights with my own silver grays well. She has helped me go gray as gracefully as is possible and kept my hair in great condition! I’ll post a few pics taken during the transition. We think it will be another 5-6 months before all of the colored (but lightened as much as possible) hair has grown out and been cut off. So far, so good. Now we will see what summer sun has in store for me. Summers here are so short, I am going to enjoy the great outdoors and if my hair decides to pull more golden, my hairdresser will adjust it with toner.<br /> 1.
