I agree that your hair is where you have added edge to your looks and if you feel too classic you might feel off. What looks good can differ from what feels good as well. You do have stunning hair so it pretty much always looks fantastic. I think part of this feeling is frustration with the pandemic and uncertainty about the future. It is very challenging. I just finger comb it through my hair and it eventually dries like this.  Laurie Letting it grow out is basically what I think I will do, because of the reasons you state! JAileen - Thank you! Carla on "Hair help please" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/hair-help-please-3#post-2129655 Thu, 25 Jun 2020 20:32:55 +0000 Carla 2129655@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ It can be super challenging to look ‘cutting edge’ with curly hair.  Your asymmetrical cut was probably as edgy as a mop top can get, and the style really suited you.  I understand wanting to change things up, but it may be hard to find the drama of ‘edginess’ during a grow out.  On the other hand, natural curly hair seems to be having a moment - and some ‘shag’ variations seem modern this year.  (I’m not feeling the inverted bob or wedge ATM.  Something about precise or geometric lines doesn’t feel ‘right’, nor is it easy to maintain if appointments with stylists are fewer and farther apart.) You could consider bringing the longer side up to match the shorter side for a more symmetrical mid-length layered style.  Shorten the front (maybe 3 inches?) so it is less disconnected, but DON’T do bangs.  Something like Yasmin Sewell (#1) but with a longer front that can be swept to either side, parted in the middle, or swept up and pinned back.  Kind of a blend of #1 and #2, but not as ‘stiff’ as #3.  Smoothed out, it would look like Julia Roberts in #4 - but we all know her hair is quite curly - I just couldn’t find a photo that showed her natural hair texture with this cut.   If you want a more rounded style, and shorter back, you can keep growing the sides and back, but keep the front/fringe shorter*, like #5 and #6. This is a little more conventional style, though. I’m adding #7 just in case you don’t want to give up any of the front length, and want a l-o-n-g (term) hair project.  Get the sides cut to the same symmetrical length, and move your part closer to the middle/center keeping most of the length.  The long ‘fringe’ will be disconnected until the sides and back gain more length but the top length can be distributed a little more over both sides, IYKWIM. *’shorter’ is always relative with curly hair since it shrinks so much, and bangs shrink even more than the sides and back, it seems!   Hope this helps, Shevia!   <div> </div> madeline on "Hair help please" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/hair-help-please-3#post-2129653 Thu, 25 Jun 2020 20:21:39 +0000 madeline 2129653@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ Shevia, I am trying to pay it forward here as Runcarla posted some great hair inspo photos for me. You have managed to have an annoyingly well-behaved grow-out during lockdown haha (although I know how wavy/curly hair can *feeeeel* super-top-heavy when shaping’s needed). So the current length plus your usual asymmetrical style looks good ~ intentional ~ stylish. BUT (da da dummmmm): is it YOU? As in —> I’d been growing my hair out pre-lockdown after finding a curl cut stylist who didn’t keep cutting my hair off to just above shoulder-length. That length technically LOOKS fine, but makes me feel both conservative and perky and I really dislike it. So I was happy enough with it pre-LD, and we were like, “ok let’s see what it looks like in 2 months / ~ 3 inches.” 4 months / 6 inches later...I loved my nearly bra band length and kept most of it during my cut a few days ago. I probably would have passed on growing it out of [insert random concerns here.] For me it brings the drama that the mid-length did not (hence my wearing it piled up most of the time). Anyway: it’s clear you’re not feeling THIS length. In addition to all the great styling tips above, maybe you can just pin the length under now and then to see how you feel when you look in the mirror with it shorter. If you haven’t been hankering to grow it long in some way/shape/form I don’t know that I’d keep going that direction. I passed because I want to be able to ride out another several months without hair angst if need be. Your hair is so adorable. I am personally not drawn to asymmetrical cuts for myself - though you YLFabbers totally rock this look, and I'm in awe - so I'd personally love to see it fuller all around your face at this length.The curls are amazing, and always add the dramatic effect. But I get it - it gets annoying after a while when you can't do what you want with your hair. What's the stylist situation in Israel right now - is that a realistic option? I'm not great with hair but I can say that my current goal (given I haven't even tried to get a stylist appointment yet as I'm sure they are mobbed) is to get my hair into the shiniest, healthiest shape I can. So I don't bother much with styling, but have been spending a lot more time and effort conditioning, moisturizing, etc. That could be a little hair project to keep in mind?
