If you have lots of gray, you can't just get highlights, you have to dye everything, just in two different colors. As for color, I can picture you in brighter auburn, i think it will look great. I have my hair highlighted (lighter highlights and sometimes also lowlights) every 12 weeks, and as the hair grows, the streaks of grey sort of blend in with the highlights. At 12 weeks, there is about an inch of new growth, but it doesn't look bad. The new growth is my original dark color plus the fine strands of grey.</p> <p>Right now I'm on a chunky highlight kick, but I've also had much finer highlights.</p> <p>If your hair is more uniformly grey, I would think highlights would be more difficult as the new hair would be line of grey as the new hair grows in. I don't like big chunks of streaking. I haven't been happy with the results, though - the color looks good at first, but starts taking on a red/brassy tinge as it fades. I'm thinking of switching to highlights, but wondering if too much grey will show through.</p> <p>Any thoughts on cut are more than welcome too! </p>
