The bangs sound great, Krishni. I am slightly worried about going that much darker than my natural color - does anyone here do that? How high maintenance is it?

With your lovely brown eyes, have you ever thought of dying your hair a rich chocolate colour? A la Audrey Tautou.

With deep brown, I would go for some few strands of short bangs (not a straight line, more like bird-feathered wicks on the forehead to see your eyebrows and open up your eyes.

Ypou have such fine features, have you thought of getting a pixie/similar cut? I think that would look great! Also the suggested angled bob....I would try and get the overgrown layers cleaned up and I think you'll be happier....such a pretty face!

Gray expert here! If you have lots of gray, you can't just get highlights, you have to dye everything, just in two different colors. But advantage is that grays will not be that visible as they grow out because it will be less contrast, so you can have up to 6 weeks between touch ups.

cinnamon, yes I meant shorter in the back, longer in the front-I think that would be a great style for you:)

I have no experience with greys, but my mom went with some very subtle lowlights and they seem to have all vanished.

I'm not absolutely sure how much grey I have at this point! I guess I will have to wait and see.

Victoria - angular bob = inverted bob? stacked in back, longer in front?

cinnamon, I think you should get your hair cut in angular bob just below your ear-with your face shape it will be very flattering on you. As for color, I can picture you in brighter auburn, i think it will look great. For covering greys, I don't think highlights are the best-my mom had it, and you could see plenty of greys and she didn't want that.

CF--It's difficult to see how much grey you have, but I think we have about the same amount.

If your grey is still in streaks, I think highlights will do nicely, and you won't have to color all that often. I have my hair highlighted (lighter highlights and sometimes also lowlights) every 12 weeks, and as the hair grows, the streaks of grey sort of blend in with the highlights. At 12 weeks, there is about an inch of new growth, but it doesn't look bad. The new growth is my original dark color plus the fine strands of grey.

Right now I'm on a chunky highlight kick, but I've also had much finer highlights.

If your hair is more uniformly grey, I would think highlights would be more difficult as the new hair would be line of grey as the new hair grows in. I'll post a pic, but you can't see the grey yet as I just had it done. These are very white contrasty highlights this time.

Thanks Joy! Camouflage is what I'm after, I think, not complete removal. I love MaryK's hair but her remark that she had it dyed every three weeks struck fear into my heart.

When I was getting grey about the amount you are, I found that having my natural brown color finely streaked with a taupey beige helped camoflague the grey and didn't need to be done very often. I don't like big chunks of streaking. I'm not good with hairstyles and will leave that to the experts.

This is ten weeks since the last haircut, and looking really shaggy. I'm mainly trying to figure out color. I hope you can see the grey roots in 2 and 3!

For the last couple years I've been getting it dyed to the original color. I haven't been happy with the results, though - the color looks good at first, but starts taking on a red/brassy tinge as it fades. I'm thinking of switching to highlights, but wondering if too much grey will show through.

Any thoughts on cut are more than welcome too!
