Runcarla, I agree with everyone that you look great in both styles. But as someone with similar hair, straightening always makes me think of drying and frizzing (in the future). Your curls in number one are amazing and I look forward to seeing you as it grows.

Thanks for the info about the product. I love my shampoo but feel like I might benefit from a curly hair specific styling product. I’m going to give it a try.

Both look fantastic - but as someone with super-straight hair of a similar length, I am really drawn to your beautiful curls. Your hair dries like that? Dang. So playful and chic. The straight is lovely, too, though, and it’s nice to have a dramatically different option with short hair.

It looks great both curly and straight! I’ve been letting my hair do its naturally curly thing all summer. Now that school’s starting (tomorrow! Ugh) I am not sure how I’ll be wearing it for fall / winter.

RUNCARLA- I know we have spoken in past about similar hair. But I have to say that your hair takes both the curl and straightener better than mine.
I absolutely love you in both curly and flat ironed. I think both can serve you well if you consider each style as a “ fashion accessory “
Stay the course girl

Wow! Thanks everyone!

Shiny - this is washed with a fairly mild standard shampoo that I buy by the gallon from a beauty supply store. I like it because it smells like almonds. Styling consists of a comb through with an Afro pick, then a bit of leave in conditioner rubbed on and raked through with my hands. I'm really liking a drugstore product from Marc Anthony called Strictly Curls Curl Envy Perfect Cream that I discovered last fall. Smells like citrus and hair feels soft (not crunchy) but frizz is tamed - even in high humidity. It is virtually impossible to maintain a straight style May through October due to humidity activating natural curl. Winter months I can manage straighter styles - but war with damage from styling tools - which in turn creates frizz - my biggest hair problem!

The colour is my natural hair. The 'bright shocks' are what DH calls 'Polar Blonde' - in reality my white streaks.

Oh my! Your #1 is my holy grail. Tell me what you do to achieve that. If I could consistently achieve that (my hair does curl about the same as yours, just so not consistently, it is probably finer than yours?) I'd ditch my blow dryer completely.

What conditioner are you using? Or is it the cut?

LOVE everything about your hair, including the color! Love those bright shocks at the forehead.

I can see why you're aiming for your inspiration length, but I also love it quite a lot at the length it is now. Enjoy the process!

Love your cut! We are hair twins, except mine is naturally straight. (I envy your curls!!) I have been letting my hair grow out from pixie for the almost 4 months and the sides are just at the bottoms of my ear lobes. I think I may let it grow out a bit longer, but as for now I am getting the back trimmed every 4 weeks to keep the "mullet" in check.

Plus, I also switched to a new stylist who is half the price of the old one ($50 versus $100) and I love the cut.

My hair is very straight, so I shift between a ponytail or a bun and straight loose hair. And always the same straight fringe. Pretty low maintenance, but sometimes I get bored with it...

I love both looks. So fun that you can straighten it for such a different style. Like Lisa p, I’m tempted to grow my pixie a bit for something different, but I do still really like it short. I’m going on a cruise in the fall, so maybe I will try to let it grow until then and see what my stylist can do.

It looks great! I like it straightened too — still lots of body and shape.

I have an appointment in a little less than two weeks. I’m kinda jonesing for something new, but I have no idea what. I know I don’t want short. I like the asymmetry but I’ve had it a while now. And I like the splashes of color, but they’re totally faded now, and I liked the old teal/blue peacock tones better than the last blue/purple color scheme.

It doesn’t help that I’ve been doing minimal styling of my hair, which means summer humidity just renders it wavy and frizzy and I feel like it loses its style. Hmm, I dunno what to do with it. I welcome suggestions! I just know I don’t want a pixie and I don’t want a blunt bob — neither are me at this stage in my life.

I've been growing my hair out since mid-spring. The bob is more versatile/flexible for theatre productions, and I'm liking the softness and ease, and not having to trim constantly. Nothing particularly new for me; I go through the same pixie-bob cycle every few years. :)

Finally following through with my plan to grow my hair a little longer! Just got my second trim since retiring in April and I'm pretty happy with the progress made. Curly hair hides a lot, but I start to look a little shaggy around 3 months, so I'm booking a trim at 12 week intervals. My goal is a curly bob and my stylist is on board. This trim brings me pretty close, but I'm thinking 1 year (September 2019) to get the overall length - specifically the bangs.

My stylist wanted to style it straight for fun!

#1 air dried with leave in conditioner
#2/4 flat ironed
#3/5 inspo - Consuelo Blocker

Are you changing up your hair for F/W?
