While you seek a medical opinion on the hair fall, can you get a second opinion on the PCOS too? I've got several friends that suffer from it, and not ONE has ever found it goes away with time or babies! If anything it gets worse left to its own devices, and can actually interfere with having babies.

Good luck!

Thanks for your wise words ladies. Love you all
I will surely make an appointment with a doc and figure out what's going wrong within me to cause my hair loss so rapidly. I figured out its hormonal, iron deficiency anything. But there might be more issues.
Will update you on this ladies so that it could be useful to you too!!

thanks a million again.

Please get some advice from your doctor and don't let them put you off like it's not a serious problem. It is very serious for our self-esteem and well-being as women. It sounds like there could be any number of causes like the ladies list above, but someone must be able to figure it out. I had a friend who fixed her hair thinning by changing her hormone pills, but she had the advantage of being a doctor herself and knowing how to get what she wants from the medical system. Be persistent!

Yes, please check at your doctor. I have fine, thin hair at the best of times (your ponytail you are holding up is twice as thick as my hair on a good day!) and definitely some factors that have affected me are:

1. stress
2. thyroid issues (I am on synthroid now, and noticed it has helped)
3. hormonal (in my case pregnancy, but definitely hormones can play a role)
4. anemia - I tend to have low iron and when I am getting enough iron it does help my hair.

Hope you get it figured out soon.

I had a fine bald spot going in high school - the stress of going in at 6am and leaving at 9pm most days. Try to relax when you can, and maybe it will help?

However, there are so many factors at play here, we on the forum would only be guessing. I second the idea of getting some more info from your doctors. :T

Hang in there, and I hope you get it figured out soon!

I'd get a second opinion regarding the PCOS, as that is an issue that commonly leads to hair loss in women. Indeed, it is often one of the symptoms that leads women to seek a diagnosis, so it is very strongly connected. If you are not seeking to become pregnant right away, being on a low-dose birth control pill to help balance your hormones can help with the hair loss.

And have the thyroid meds double checked and your level double checked to make sure you have the proper dosage, as thyroid issues often lead to hair loss as well.

Lifestyle changes can definitely help, and reduction of stress is good for anyone, but you have two conditions that are often directly responsible for hair loss and I would address those more agressively before assuming that they aren't the cause. Good luck.

Fashionista, I have hair loss problems as well. I am on thyroid meds as well, so I know that even when medicated, this plays a role. Second, stress! You are stressed at work and your relationship, with your boyfriend leaving (sad) but also getting engaged (happy but an element of change and the unknown) -- is a stressor.

I take Biotin supplements. But the problem is I get lazy and forget to take them. But when I do take them, after about 2 weeks I start to notice less hair loss.

I believe you will lose less hair when your life stabilizes and is less stressed. I cannot say the same for myself, I think a good degree of my hair loss is simply related to getting older ( in my 50s).

So I have been quite busy this month and yes I will still be busy for some more days. Its our financial year closing month and we have to meet targets, bring the actual and budgeted very near so am giving my extra effort on this. But yes I do come back to view what's going on here but do not have that much time to post my replies. So please forgive me for this. Will catch you all ladies after this month.

Lets now come to the main purpose. I have a problem and I need all of your help regarding my hair.
- I have no dandruff
- I have no split ends
- My hair is silky, straight, shiny, glossy you name it. All those qualities of a healthy hair.
- I have been diagnosed with thyroid problems (on medication ), fibroids (even went surgery to remove it 1.5 years ago) and PCOS (done nothing for it, docs claim will go by its own or after having babies).

I oil, shampoo, condition and sometimes put henna to give it some glossy color only. I let it air dry only and also protect to the most possible from pollution and smoke. I do wear helmet during riding and my scalp sweats a lot in summer due to helmet. I wash my hair every two to three days depending on the situation and need.

Now my main problem is hair fall. I have done everything to stop hair fall. I know it may be because of hormones due to my diseases. Or is it due to product overload. Or is the culprit the helmet which makes my scalp sweat in summer. Or something else.

Help, I may go bald if my hair falls at this rate. I have only a handful left!!!! Can anyone tell me exactly what the culprit is? and any advice to stop my most loved possession from being lost?
