Definitely contact the salon and tell them what happened. They should fix it for you for free, since it sounds like you did everything you were supposed to.

According to my hairdresser, it has to set for at least 45' under a hot dryer, then cool down completely (with the dryer on cool, so it doesn't take forever) before rinsing. She claims that if you rush either step, it won't last.

Anyway if definitely go back to the salon. They should fix it for you gratis.

I'd speak with the salon owner, expressing my puzzlement at the result and asking for their advice on a remedy. I'd be surprised if a courtesy fix wasn't forthcoming. If it was done by my hairdresser of 13 years, I'd go by and chat with her more discreetly; she'd fix it without question.

Good luck!

My daughter had hers done violet and it lasted perfectly. Cousin had the same done elsewhere and got the result like yours. I asked my salon owner who did my daughter's what could have happened, and he said it was either from the salon using a poor quality dye or not rinsing cold water the first time through,

Two days ago I went to the salon and got a BEAUTIFUL dark violet color dye in my hair. I completely loved the color! I waited 36 hours to shower (like you're supposed to), and the color faded while I was shampooing my hair (with a color-healthy shampoo)! I loved the color but now it's an ugly puke-like lavender color. What should I do, and why did it fade?
