@Angie thank you! I'm so excited to have found this forum!

@Taylor I'm very happy to hear the lightening affect will take place within the next few weeks, I'm sort of freaking in the early days of this new look…Haha! And as for the outgrowth, I see what you're saying, three inches is quite a bit…perhaps I'll wait to get highlights again until I'm committed to a little more frequently than 6 months - however I'm not sure that's an option I am growing my hair long, and it is already about 4-5 inches below my shoulders. I figure if I only go a little lighter than my natural color it may enhance the natural highlights I always had every summer from the sun, because those grew out giving me roots also even though I had virgin hair! Maybe I could pull off every 4 months??
Thanks for listening my mom, boyfriend and girlfriends are tired of my hair questions

Sarabella,

Your new lowlights should fade considerably within the next few weeks and allow some lighter dimension to peek through, so it will have an all over lighter look in no time :).

Going 6 months between any color no matter how subtle is quite a stretch. Hair grows about a half inch a month, so you are talking a minimum of 3 inches outgrowth at the root line, no matter how subtle, still obvious.:(

Hello all : ) So I had virgin hair up until a year ago (prof pic is of virgin all natural color) and last summer I got highlights, well a week ago I realized how drastically my dark blonde roots were contrasting to the bleach highlights mixed into the lower half of my long hair, and had lowlights put in. My hair looks all over DARK blonde, even though the woman didn't touch my roots w/ the lowlights, she covered almost all of the highlights up. I'm feeling a little too dark haired for my identity I feel even a bit darker blonde than my natural color was, however that could just be a year of lightness thanks to highlights. My hair has darkened as I've aged, so I want to add some SUBTLE blonde highllights in. Here's what I'm wondering:
What do you suggest for gentle, less harmful subtle highlights that will only need touch ups every 6 months? I want them to look natural enough to grow up without touch ups and something that will be less harmful to my fine hair. Should I be able to go one or two shades lighter than my natural if I don't want to touch up for 6 whole months? Please advise me! I'm not in a huge hurry since it's November and I just had my hair lowlighted last week, but I'm wanting to make a plan and your help is greatly appreciated : ) Thanks!
