For the last year or so, I haven't liked to wear open necklines, and have been phasing them out. I definitely didn't like my button up shirts buttoned up, but they're ok as toppers. Even though they're silky, they were just too masculine with short hair. </p> <p>I did buy myself a long wig too, which I haven't tried at home, so I'll have options! Synthetic, but surprisingly nice quality. Definitely feels like real hair. If I like wearing it, I may just make wigs my thing! My changes have always been gradual. I've worn a pixie most of my life, but when my hair is longer I prefer different necklines, different earrings (sometimes) and I have a stronger need to move away from classics so I don't look too prim for my own taste. Longer looks too "soft" on me. As in, outfits I would usually have to add colour/ texture/ accessories etc to would suddenly look like a 'look' as is - less effort was needed. I never went 'minimalist' but a bit more pared down. </p> <p>The flip side was having to make sure everything was well fitted, since more of me was visible (no more hiding behind long hair, literally!) Necklines also had to be more comfortable (no more scratchy coat collars). </p> <p>The other thing, which I think may affect you too, is that much of the jewellery I used to wear suddenly looked too 'heavy' without the hair to ground it. I'd often wear shiny earrings, for example, because they would be more visible under my hair - I found I preferred more matte earrings instead with short hair (think oiled bronze VS shiny gold). </p> <p>Personally I did also find myself wearing more makeup then, just because I didn't like how the visual focus was now on my nose (partially the reason why I haven't gone short again). If I do though, think the shortest I would go is shoulder length, just to keep some contrast around my face. Don't know if you also feel the same way? It was a real thing to let go of my long hair (and symbol of youth?), so I get that part for sure.&nbsp; A talented, and sympathetic, stylist is really essential.</p> <p>At my last appointment, my stylist actually asked me if I wanted to let my hair go longer, "since you can", due to the relative health of my hair at this point. That was a switch.
