Luckily it is Stage 1, Grade 1 and I have had two surgeries. As word gets around that I have "cancer", people have started coming up to me ( RUNNING at me ) yelling, " MY GOD !!! You look fantastic ! " I know I haven't looked so good. Last week I had my second surgery and I was in a lot of pain and wasn't sleeping but my mom's neighbor said he couldn't believe how great I looked. I didn't. It has been very sweet. Even at a funeral last week, a couple of days after surgery and exhausted and on pain meds, over a dozen people "couldn't believe" how "great" I looked. I came so close to saying, " Thank you, but even the deceased 90 year old woman looks better than me. I know it. If you know I spent the morning stressing over car insurance, that comment made all the bad stuff evaporate instantly.</p> <p>Apart from that, people actually do notice more than before that there are shifts in my style. They don't know something's changing, but I do. Mainly it's from the ladies at my son's nursery and some work colleagues. I work in a casual environment and my workplace is probably going to close down in the next year or so and the morale is not high. So anyone putting in any effort does stand out, but I hear things like "You are always so put together" or "You always look so nice". I like this *always*, it tells me I am consistent.</p> <p>But, as Lynne says, the best compliments are here. This is where real experts, constructive critics and style peers are.
