I didn't have swelling during pregnancy because I wore compression stockings everyday; in my case it was the spreading of the bones and ligaments that Hil mentioned. I went from being a 7 to 7.5 or 8 depending on the brand. It was mostly the width! (Also, my ribcage went from a 32 to a 34, while my breasts went from a full B cup to a slim A after the end of breastfeeding...) I went from 7/7.5 to 8/8.5 postpartum (and both pregnancies were in my thirties, so I wasn't still 'growing''!) But I would give it a few months &amp; just buy a pair or two for short term comfort. You may still have fluid storage going on, especially if you're nursing.
