Yes, definitely check out the department stores, Michelle. Sears or The Bay might have something. Also, off the top of my head, what about Addition Elle or Cotton Ginny Plus? Toronto has great shopping, and I'm positive that there is a pair of leggings out there with your name on them!

I have about as much rock edge as I have sight. However, if i find I like the leggings look, I may play with other design features including zippers. Shiny, thanks so much for finding that pair for me!
The hunt continues. There's got to be something that works in this huge city!

Thanks for taking my suggestion to heart, Michelle.

The echo the gals completely. Some of the stuff is fab and definitely worth a try. Nice wrap dress and tunic as pointed out by Khris and Merry. I’d start off with a very basic set of leggings sans the lace. If you feel up to side zippers, then Shiny found you a pair – but only if you’re a rocker gal at heart :0)

Oh! Michelle, you have to get these!

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....ryID=19397

They are the exact same that Angie has, in a plus size. They are opaque black, cropped, and with zippers!! The zippers are just so cute! You can wear them unzipped or zipped.

I thought of you immediately when I saw the plum wrap dress Niva posted a link to :)

Those are the kind of leggings that everyone talks about, although the lace trim at the bottom is optional.

Not everything on the site is fab for everyone, but it does look like they have some great options.

Michelle, I'm not even half as good as Kristen in describing the clothes they carry but I will give it a shot. The clothes are definitely not hideous In fact, I am impressed at how most of the clothes were made keeping in mind that they should flatter a curvy lady. V neck tops, less detailing around the bust area etc. Some of them are trapeze tops and baby doll type tops which I don't find very flattering. My reference point is my 32 G sized bust They even have some nice everyday dresses at reasonable prices.

Lets start with the leggings. They are cropped black leggings with lace trim at the hem. The lace look is really cute but I'm not sure if the lace detail will be versatile enough for different outfits. That would depend on your style I guess :-)

They have some cute day dresses like this one http://www.maximumwoman.com/inc/sdetail/15638. It is very similar to the black and white dress you already have. This one has white, light pink and dark pink flowers (each flower about 2-3 inches big) printed on what seems to be a black background, with black piping along the neck and armholes and a black band under the bust. And this: http://www.maximumwoman.com/inc/sdetail/12629 which is a plum wrap dress with slight ruffle detail along the neck line. It has full sleeves and falls just above the knee on the model.

Overall, the collection is nice but not impressive enough to me to warrant an expensive cab ride across town. Then again stores are known to have very different inventoried online as opposed to in store. Maybe you could call them to find out if that is the case and then decide?

I hope I was helpful Michelle

Michelle- I agree with rute. It has some nice looking things, and others not so nice. It's worth a shot if there isn't anythign closer to you. Do you have a shop called Torrid in your area- they would have plus size leggings? (Not sure if they are in Canada) I have some leggings with lace (like those), and some without. I like the plain hem better. Look for something that hits at the widest part of your calf- it will draw attention away from your ankles. This dress would be cute with leggings:

Hi Michelle!

I think this leggings could work if you use it with a fun dress or a skirt, don't use it with a short t-shirt like the model on the photo because is not flattering. The site has some great stuff and others not so great, the best option is to try the clothes and see how it looks like on your body, but if not possible see if the site has a good return policy, so that you won't have to keep something you don't like.

Good luck!

Ok, Angie actually went and challenged me to try a dress over leggings look (yes, this is outside of Hannah's super-fun challenge)! When the guru says jump, I say how high, so here goes the quest for leggings. Problem: I am a total novice at this. Don't even know what to look for. And options are a bit more limited considering the whole size issue and the insane discomfort I have with my own legs and ankles. So I ask you, is this the kind of thing I should be looking for?
http://www.maximumwoman.com/inc/sdetail/14717

If anyone has the time or inclination, I'd actually love some feedback on whether the clothes on this site are great or awful. I'd go check out the physical store myself, but it's at the absolute other end of the city, on a route I know nothing about, and at the end of an exorbitant cab ride. I'd pay the rate if I knew it was worth it, but am not willing to gamble if the clothes are a nightmare.

Thanks as always!
