Aww: I'm sorry Gigi. My weight shifted in 2012, due to both a few rounds of (prescription) steroids & I suspect just hitting my mid 20s. I had to get rid of a couple blouses that fit my waist, because they were straining at the chest with the change. My waist also ended up a bit bigger, but luckily it was only an inch or two so I only had to say good bye to one skirt: the rest still fit. And belts can just be adjusted of course! Oddly enough, my waist also ended up a bit higher though, which did mean I had to say goodbye to my widest belts, which now poked into my ribs, although before they were very comfortable.

More recently, I think I put on a bit more padding around my hips over the winter (yay!), so I had to let out a couple waistband adjustments I'd done. But honestly, I don't think I'm fussy enough with fit in the first place to lose much unless it's a very dramatic weight change. I'm also lucky: I tend to gain weight very evenly, so even though I'm short, even 10 lbs wouldn't really affect fit unless I was wearing very very body con items with no stretch at all.

Good luck finding a replacement: hopefully once fall stuff arrives in the shops there will be more cream! Or the Ebay route will work.

(Also, rise issues is why I can never wear petite trousers, despite having a short inseam: petite rises are always too short on me. I wonder if I should try tall versions instead of regular to get some extra rise length...but of course now high rise is coming back into style.)

K, glad to know I'm not the only one! Yes, I will just say that my clothing shrank. :)

Peri, don't be too hard on yourself. It's impossible to predict how long health issues will keep a person underweight. I started out buying clothes in my usual (healthy) size, but that was a mistake. I was underweight for five years! So I don't feel bad that I bought things for the size I was when underweight. It was necessary. And it's hard to advance your style when you're wearing things that hang on you and are baggy.

Diana, Thistle, Suz, I will check eBay! Great idea. And I'll have plenty of time to find them, since there is some time before colder weather sets in. If I don't find them, Suz, I like your suggestion of trying the style exchange.

Belladogga, sounds like we are in the same boat! Maybe you can check eBay too. I have been trying to wear all my stuff, even if it's nicer than everyday wear, and now that I hear your story, I am so glad I do that!

Firecracker, depending on what I find, I might end up having to go the ankle pants route. But I get really cold around my ankles if it's not summer temps, and I like having the full-length pants to really sit on top of the booties and cover any gaps. Knee-high boots would work, though! I do have a pair of off-white Madewells that are ankle pants...but they have zippers at the ankles, and I wonder if that would hurt if I wore them tucked into boots. Hmm, I may have to try!

Check ebay for sure! Also, maybe put out a request on the style exchange for the size you think you need. Since these were a lemming item, there may be somebody who no longer wants hers.

Also, since you're petite, maybe the "ankle" pants will be full length on you.

Congratulations on the weight gain. I know it is a pain, but it's also a great thing for you.

That's too bad about losing the use of a favorite workhorse. On the other hand, it's good you got so much wear out of them while you could. I wonder if you might be able to use ankle pants by wearing them with boots and booties in the winter. Those are my footwear choices anyway in colder weather.

This season I outgrew my old favorite jeans, but honestly, I had worn them so much that I am fine with having had an excuse to buy new ones. Now, the two pairs of white jeans I outgrew were a different matter; I had only bought them last year, and now I can't wear them. However, I am really disappointed only about one pair (that I happened to spend more money on, too); the others were just okay to begin with, so no great loss.

I remember those BR skinnies. I liked the look of them but hesitated and lost - my size sold out.

I've gained about 10 lbs over the last year. All below the waist, not so good. Now most of my favorite pants and skirts are too tight. Fortunately I was able to replace some wardrobe staples in the next size up - the Gap modern bootcut trousers that are part of my self designated work uniform and the JCrew cafe capris for my casual uniform. But I really miss my other pants that are no longer available and wish I had worn them more rather than saving them for special occasions so they didn't wear out. Lesson learned. I've put all the too small items in a holding zone until the end of the year. If they still don't fit then - out they will go.

Donna, I thought about ordering a similar jean in a regular (the regular would be full length on me, since I normally wear a short inseam), but I normally have issues with the rise being too long in the regular sizing. I've been really careful about pants fit the last few months and have found that petite pants really fit me a lot better in the waist and rise. But I will still check misses' pants if I can't find anything in petites'. The biggest problem with the recommended BR replacement jean was that it was white and not the lovely cream color they had last year.

Kiwigal, yes, I am hoping that I can find a suitable replacement! I'm hoping that with the next influx of cold-weather items (fall is coming here), there will be more cream-colored options. Everything is still bright white now.

Laura, I did keep them. I thought about selling on consignment, because I'm sure they would be snatched up, but sometimes health issues have a way of popping back up. So I'm going to hold on to them for a year just in case.

Yes...for the same reason. Big health issues took me down about 10 pounds for over a year and I bought a perfect HEWI black ponte dress from BR in a size 4, foolishly thinking that I'd stay that weight. I could have bought a 6, but the 4 looked better. Now I hate myself for not buying the looser 6 because I could still be wearing it. What was I thinking???

Yay for doing better health wise! But boo to the pants. Most of what I've been getting rid of lately is more due to changes in style, but I've had to say goodbye to a few things because they shrank.

Well, the long-awaited moment arrived...I finally gained some of the weight back that I lost because of health issues! That is good. However, one of my much-beloved fall workhorses doesn't fit anymore: my BR cream skinnies. These were the full-length skinnies that caused lemmingitis on the forum last fall.

I am so bummed because I wore those jeans so much last year due to their beautiful color (I love that the cream is clearly cream and not white) and their length. They were also comfy too. And I need light-colored bottoms to keep my wardrobe from looking too dark in the fall and winter months. Of course, BR recommends their white *ankle* pants as a replacement, but hey, when it's cold out, I don't do ankle pants!

Is anyone else having to say good-bye to a much-loved workhorse because of weight gain or weight loss?
