The coat looks great - I love a pink coat. Lapels do date items but there are so many retro looks from different periods out that I wouldn't worry about it. I spend a good deal of time separating good vintage from bad (and good current from bad) and it is more of an intuition than a science. So if you like how it looks go for it and if you have doubts model it for the forum as you would wear it.

Hope it isn't because, from memory, my pink coat has the same lapels

Those lapels do not date that coat at all. Pretty coat!

I know what you mean about how lapels can date a coat - and it's true, but not here. I think this looks classic and very wearable. I love the colour too - I wore my own pink coat today in fact!

I love that very palest gray of Angie's moto jeans and this top. I call it pearl gray. It goes really well in my closet with vivid brights and optic whites as well as more muted colors.

No insight on the jacket as I'm not as good at spotting dating details, maybe the cuffs? Cool pinks are favorites of mine too though.

Waving to Wavy Angie--great outfit and photos!
I love that pale gray or "grayed white" which is as one of my target JFE light neutrals instead of true white (which looks great on Angie of course!), or cream, which is too warm for me.

So I am trying the BR top in that color and also because of its slightly structured design.

Re: peacoats, which are classic as a genre, I found this pink coat in second-hand shop; the color doesn't photo true, it is a deeper, very cool pink.
It may be a no bueno due to fit, as it fits in the shoulders but is cut fairly straight and is not as comfortable buttoning as a true outerwear coat should be, and since it's not really a blazer I would probably want it to button--though did consider using it as a fun topper without buttoning.

However, the question is the collar/lapels. Not goin' out on a date with one, but it looks a little large to me and wonder if that is the type of thing that dates it, and if so, then all coats must date to some extent, and so do you just have to buy only "current coats" and then have a few years' run left on the clock ? Or am I overly critical? It is one reason why I don't buy too much at consignment stores because I have a tendency not to know what is retro-good vs. very dated, and there are times I don't care and times I do!

ETA: so, I decided to try it out. I like the option to experiment with this at a low price point since I've never sported this color in outerwear, and it will have kind of limited target wears, and it might prove too easy to show dirt. It fits much better over a thin sweater, and I like it unbuttoned for a more casual look and to target milder cool weather, but I still might consider the trick of moving the buttons over 1/2 because just a smidge more room would be better if buttoning.
