It removes brassiness and makes my gray brighter. If I’m wearing a top with a certain purple tone, my hair can have a lavender cast on the day it is washed. This dissipates over time. This photo was taken about five days after a ‘purple’ wash. My base hair color is dark brown. After 15 years of silver hair, have tried a bunch of products (ouch) and found that SBC shampoo is the least drying and provides the best results. One option is mixing your regular shampoo with purple shampoo, so you get a bit in every time you wash your wash your hair. </p> <p>This is my current hair care plan: I use purple shampoo each time I wash my hair-the first lather is 100% SBC, the second lather is 100% other shampoo. You may find that that your hair needs a full purple shampoo every time you wash it—your local water, heat from hairdryer, flat iron, curling iron, etc. can also affect hair color and make it appear more yellow. Every 4-6 weeks, I try to use a clarifying shampoo.
