I have really good luck with Jones NY (photos 1-2) - sign up for their emails and they run great specials weekly (I got both for $55 each and they are far better quality). Also I find Calvin Klein is decent and doesn't ignore the fact that women have breasts. My absolute favorite blazer is the Gap ponte academy which I have in several colors (and if they did a solid white I'd be all over it). I also have it in wool and hate it (pills). I also like Halogen and Caslon (Nordstrom house brands) which I find at the Rack. I have a lot of blazers and don't really have one that always works - it really requires trying on for the style, the fabric and I have many different sizes that fit similarly.
Yep, apple checking in here... I am a 10/12 on the bottom and a 16/18P on the top I have a great suit jacket that is cut like a riding jacket. It is a little longer than most jackets these days but I love how it nips in at the waist and has a 3 button closure.
I also really like Chanel-type jackets because they look great with trousers or jeans and polish things off nicely while adding a bit of texture.
Peplum jackets are nice too because they define a waist and suggest that i have "hips" where I have very little.
As far as color I think that's secondary to the cut. Once you have the right cut the jacket could do an LED light show and you'd still look chic because the cut is spot on.
Here are a few photos to illustrate: #1 is a riding type jacket because it's longer and has angled pockets, #2 is Chanel-type, #3&4 are peplum jackets.
I hope this helps.

Not an apple but an IT so bigger on top, and the Theory Lanai blazer has been an absolute workhorse for me. Dress up, dress down, low fuss, Helmut Lang look-alike. It comes in white right now!

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/th.....ualcategor

We seem to have similar shapes, Carrie. I wear a 12 in jackets and 8-10 in bottoms. I have bought 2 jackets for spring and returned them both. I have found the Tahari brand works well for my shape but hate to lay out the dough for my casual life. I found some casual jackets at JCpenny of all places, that I really like and might fit the bill. I'll keep you posted.

Is there anyone out there who runs bigger on top (apple body) with slim hips and legs that has found a great looking, great fitting, classic blazer in white and /or a great color? I tend to feel naked and a bit too casual without a blazer. Whether I am wearing jeans or slacks I like to wear a jacket- they are my security blanket and make me feel good and well put together. a great jacket tends to give me a shape and is slenderizing. I wear a 12-14 on top and 10-12 on the bottom.
Lafayette 148 is my the work horse apparel line in my wardrobe rotation-but only the basics. I just can't afford their fashion collections.
I am looking forward to hearing what great jackets others have found!
