This is kind of hard for me to answer, since I have a HUGE collection of graphic tees, and honestly can't say if they are a trend or not. I would say if you like it, just get it and wear it

I've been loving graphic tees lately. I;ve been wearing them with cardigans and blazers this winter. I feel like they have a little extra edge and personality than a plain t-shirt. Have you looked at threadless.com? They have thousands of t-shirts with arty designs and no slogans.

I definitely like graphic tees with a blazer or cardigan. On their own, I can be really picky about what is on it, for fear of become a walking billboard, as someone put it above.

Seeing all those short sleeves make me want to start counting down to summer!

I don't mind a graphic tee myself. I have one which says couture and one with palm trees which says 'best day ever' I tend to wear the first one with white jeans or knee length blue jeans in summer, the other one is mainly for my hols. I wouldn't mind more though :) Your outfit sounds nice!

I quite like ones with graphic designs on them, but I'm not a fan of words. Most of the ones I see are words. Which is probably a good thing :) I did get an Eiffel Tower tank top a couple of summers ago that saw a lot of wear.

Sounds like a nice, casual outfit, Texstyle. I too gravitate toward solid tees and tops so it's nice to mix it up a bit with graphic lettering or whatever.

I agree with all of you - which is why I go for the graphic styles myself as opposed to the true "message" tee. I'm wearing the BR Sunrise Sunset today with my cargo joggers - feeling very comfy for work at home and maybe a even a stop out to the local cafe, which is *very* casual (at the lake). I do wear the AMOR graphic tee a lot as it just makes me feel like summer with my faded BF crop jeans. The Siamese cat and the other tee I have not purchased, but I did consider them.

I guess since I live at the lake in a very tourist oriented town and I work at home for the most part, my "style" is pretty minimal. The graphic tee gives me something with "pattern" in a sense (since I don't really enjoy most real patterns) and lets me wear more than just a basic solid colored tee.

I like them when they have a sort of graphic vibe to them and when the message isn't cheesy or silly. They aren't a huge investment when bought on sale (and there's always a sale!) so I think it's kind of fun to have a couple to play with. They are what they are....nothing too serious. We don't have to be serious all the time, right.
I bought the Rock Paper Scissors tee at BR last fall. I like that it's gray and black and the lettering looks graphic. I like it layered under a black jacket with jeans and it's nice to dress down a black pencil skirt as well.

I am also on the fence with this one...I think it stems from reading someone's quote about not becoming a bulletin board with the statement tees...
I have since then shied away from wearing a graphic tee but that doesn't mean that I don't think they are interesting on someone else...

yes, i'm starting to see them everywhere i shop as well. but have yet to see them on an actual person. we'll have to see what the warm weather brings. what i have been seeing the most of is "mission statement" tees (i don't know that else to call them, they are not really slogans, or political, mission just seems to be the best name i can come up with). anyway, i'll be honest, i'm kind of on the fence about this trend. i like them, but i feel like i wouldn't want to see someone else wearing the same statement tee. but that's just me

I think they are perfect for casual wear. I don't own any at present, but I'm sometimes drawn to the more subtle, abstract designs. I would feel uncomfortable wearing anything with a slogan of any kind, but that's just me. They look fine on others.

So I've been a little obsessed with finding the *right* graphic tees ever since I saw one of Angie's posts about wearing a graphic tee. I purchased one from jcrew last year and wore it quite a lot, I bought one of the "Home" tees that contribute to a good cause and also have worn it a lot. Then I started looking more, trying to find a few more that felt right for me. I don't like to wear a big message necessarily, I prefer a subtle graphic design or something that is not making a political or social statement per se. Some people feel comfortable wearing rock band tees, some like to wear "logo" type tees - I'm seeing all sorts of designs recently.

It feels like the graphic tee is everywhere I shop and I wonder if this will be just a trend or if it makes sense to invest in a few more (which I actually have recently). I mean I do wear t-shirts nearly every day in summer so it's justified in that regard. What may not be justified is relying too heavily on them for "style"

Here are a few I've seen and/or purchased recently.

What do you think of graphic tees for casual wear?
