I personally don't think dark jewel tones look great with black, I mean it's fine but seems very "if in doubt default to black". Took me awhile to get them hemmed so I need to get them in rotation.</p> <p>I'll need to be an early boot-wearer because they're hemmed for boots to make&nbsp; use of a bit of heel height, and yet are not for very cold weather (unless with merino long underwear!).</p> <p>I am trying a ruched top in #1 to intentionally get a more fitted look, but with the ruching to un-fit it a bit. and wide neckline for balance. <br />--boy, it looks kinda&nbsp;'60's--too much so ?<br />--does the ruching fight with the pleats?<br />&nbsp;#2 is just a cardigan tucked in,&nbsp;trying the &nbsp;fall colors and I find I like&nbsp;to use &nbsp;relatively low-contrast tops with the pants. Seems pants are hiked up &amp; belted higher&nbsp; here.</p> <p>I see that &nbsp;if I&nbsp; used a belt that blended in with pants even more--where are you, dark red belt?--it would help shorten torso a bit more. So may try to avoid black belt with black top even thought that seemed matchy-good at first.</p> <p>These are quite wide and swishy. Most of time will be partially camoflaged by coat. Will see if they make me feel too "out there"!</p> <p>What say&nbsp; you on these options and other things to try?&nbsp; </p>
