So sorry to hear. It is so heartaching to loose a beloved pet. I guess you have to take joy in the fact that you enriched each others lives, and keep those good memories close to your heart.

My sympathies Angie and Greg. I missed the tribute too. It's hard to lose such a dear member of the family. Big hugs all around and sending a big "Woof" to Rosie and Jasmine up in doggie heaven.

VC, that was so sweet. It's good to remember that there are good things that come from grief.

Biscuitsmom, this is such a thoughtful idea to put this thread on the forum.

I was just adoring Angie's pics of Rosie and Jasmine on pinterest... didn't glance at the source tag till several photos along. Shocked.

Thanks for posting! I hadn't checked the blog since morning.
Our furbabies enrich our lives in so many ways, and their love is so uncomplicated and constant. Such a painful thing to lose a furbaby.

I wanted to do something. Went looking up my local animal shelter, and clicked on the donation page. They accept cash donations, but they *also* have an Amazon wish list.

I sent 5 fleece blankets in different colours (alas, I couldn't specify apple green, citron or tomato red exactly, but I tried), a case of chicken broth and some chicken treats (because Rosie was fan of chicken!) to my local shelter - gift-marked, "In memory of Jasmine & Rosie".

Thank you for posting this, BiscuitMom - not everyone sees the blog posts first, and although I saw the blog posting before checking the YLF forums, there have been many times where I just looked at the forums. It was kind of you to mention it here too, just in case.

I'm extra-sad tonight. I know what it feels like. When my DH and I got married, he had his beloved charcoal coloured toy-poodle, "Stormy", and I had my gigantic black lab, "Beatrice". When my DH and I got married, Beatrice and Stormy had to learn how to get along with each other. They also attended our wedding!

They became fast friends. Following each other all over the house, all through the yard, and always trying to 'one up' each other on walks. Beatrice was a gentle giant, 100+ pounds of pure strength and Stormy was this teensy little poodle (just shy of 10 lbs.), with major attitude. Stormy fell in love with Beatrice. They'd curl up together on the couch and immediately spring apart as soon as we got home from a date - pretending they still hated each other.

We lost Stormy first, and Beatrice was so sad. It was less than two years later that Beatrice ended up with osteosarcoma - a really bad, aggressive cancer. We think maybe she just wanted to be with Stormy.

Thing is? I remember what it was like to lose Stormy. It was truly awful, but we still had Beatrice, and we had to take extra good care of her, cheer her up and so on. When Beatrice died, it was that much worse. I guess what I'm saying is that when we lost the first doggie, it was awful ...but we rallied and worked hard to keep Bea in good spirits. Bea befriended my DH - seemed like she realized how horrible it was that he'd lost his Stormy. She'd sit next to him, day after day - comforting him. As if to say, "I know...."

I guess I'm just saying that losing both of your doggies is extremely awful. It's always terrible to lose a doggie, but when you have two - you kind of have to buck up and be strong for the other one. When you lose the one you have left, it's the worst feeling in the world.

Sorry for the tangent - and thank you for thinking to post here too, in case there are other fabbers that didn't see Greg's amazing blog post.

Wasn't Rosie a real trooper? A one hundred-pound "big dog" in a little body?

Hope Rosie and Jasmine run into Beatrice and Stormy up there in doggie heaven.

Thank you.

Here is Greg's beautiful post:

http://youlookfab.com/2013/07/.....e-soldier/

This is the end of an era for us. No more Jasmine or Rosie. We are absolutely heartbroken. We need time to process and grieve.
