Yummy pictures!
There are a lot of veggie-only dishes in Turkish cuisine, so if that's your thing, you should try some Turkish recipes. In fact, I had such a lunch today with 4-5 different types of very small portions of veggie dishes piled onto a plate, and it was amazing!
This week, I made carrot cake with rye flour. My first carrot cake and first time using rye flour. It turned out really great! No pictures though since it was devoured very quickly by the household. :)

Runcarla--this is your fault, totally I am making an enormous batch of ratatouille-like stew. I've added mushrooms to the basic recipe and I'll finish it with green olives. So hungry for it to be done!

I made gluten free lamingtons for Anzac day. These are an Australian speciality. Also made GF Anzac biscuits but no pictures of them.
I received a spiralizer for my birthday and made zucchini pad thai!

I love ratatouille and its Italian cousin, Peperoni e melanzane!! I've not been cooking much because we've had too many nights out with visiting friends and relatives etc. However, I WISH I'd taken a picture of the snack plate I put together for yesterday's visitors: sliced apple, mixed berries, dried apricots, toasted coconut flakes, candied ginger, shortbread cookies, crackers, boursin cheese, rosemary asiago, herbed almonds, salami. I really enjoy composing antipasti-platters and this was no exception. The well-toasted coconut flakes were a revelation--crispy and coconut-y but rapidly dissolving into cool unctuousness in the mouth. The only item that felt as if it, maybe, didn't belong was the ginger, which was quite hot (even as candied ginger goes) but it was still nice--and I really wanted to include it as it felt like it completed the integrity of the platter as a whole. And the salami was a Salumi salami (haha ) --so peppery and flavorful.

We went out for my husband's birthday last week. This particular restaurant does everything exquisitely. I've never had anything that wasn't superb. We shared a deconstructed chile relleno, and then I had this salad and then lamb, two ways. I would like to eat there everyday, but sadly I can't.

Sisi, having never made it before, I followed the instructions and pics for reference. It was all organized like a coil. What you see in the pic, is what was left after we got into it, so a little jumbled up. I'm going to research other recipes to see how similar (or different) they are from this first one.

You are right. it is super easy!

So what have you been doing in your kitchen? Or enjoying out at your favourite resto? Angie's travel food pics were certainly a feast for the senses!

It has been grey, rainy, and even kind of cold where I live. I visited our little local bookstore and picked up a 'Victoria' magazine special edition "Flowers and Gardens". Page 77 had a recipe for Ratatouille pictured on page 78. I've never made this dish, but the picture and description sounded just like something I would like - so I gave it a try. I was able to use thyme and oregano from my garden. OMG! I can't believe that something that is all vegetables could taste so good! I've packed the leftovers for my lunch for the next two days.

Please feel free to drop in and post any cool food pics, or recipes over the next 2 weeks.
