Thank you for all the suggestions! I will mention that one of the reasons that my dryer lasted for so long was because I didn't use it for many years...so it's not a amazing as it may sound :) . But I'm sure that it's better quality than most of the comparable stuff made today, since that's just the nature of the beast.

Firecracker, as luck would have it, I have a hair appt. this week, so I will ask my hairdresser. Great idea!

Susie, I have seen Babylis mentioned a few places now, so I will definitely think about that one.

Rachylou, I have heard that the Chi is the bee's knees! Unfortunately, it's too expensive for me. I'm glad you like yours.

Gryffin, I'm glad you are enjoying your Hana. I hadn't heard of that brand. It sounds like it does exactly what you need it to do!

Jjsloane, I hadn't thought of Bed Bath and Beyond. I'll be near a store of theirs today and will check it out. I have some coupons, yay. I'll look at Rusk also. It's not too far out of my price range.

mtgirl, I should post to Naturallycurly.com. I did a search over there and came up with a couple of hair dryers, but one was too expensive and the other wasn't made anymore. I will also look at Walmart at the Revlon (which crutcher also mentioned), since that sounds like a good one. I do plan on letting my hair air dry most of the time, so maybe the Revlon won't give out too soon on me. And I'll stay away from the Infinity Pro...that sounds like something that would be a disaster on my hair.

I will also check out the sites all of you mentioned for reviews of hair dryers. It's all so mind boggling to me. I would like to buy one in-store so that I can see it and also return it easily if I hate it.

I need a new hair dryer as well even though I have bought 3 in the last year. The Revlon I bought at Walmart was awesome, but died after using daily for one year. Then I bought a Conair infinity pro which created nothing but frizz because of how powerful it is. I bought another one for my daughter which is okay, but the diffuser itself is not good at all.

Naturallycurly.com might have some recommendations as well:
https://www.google.com/webhp?s.....y.com+hair

I have thick curly hair and I use a diffuser...I found a Revlon at I believe Walmart and it has just been a little sweetie...It is an iconic and has the cool button that you can style with cooler air...I couldn't believe it has lasted so well and has done what I wanted...Give this brand a look...You might want to check Makeup Alley for their rec/...I almost never buy anything without checking with the ladies of MK Alley...Good luck..

I have never gottem more than a few years from any hair dryer no matter the price range. I'd think if you can get one to last 20 years the investment might be worth it to go more premium. I have a Rusk that I love right now and it was $79. Ulta has a decent selection and you can try them out in store for sound and weight. With a coupon many are under $50. I purchased a Hot Tools one for my mom for Christmas at the suggestion of a sales person. She said the brand was good. Also Bed Bath and Beyond stocks some good dryers and has 20% off coupons.

I have the Hana air but it's also a fortune. I have slightly wavy hair prone to frizz which I wear in a sleek bob. Need it.

I recommend checking out this site:
http://www.folica.com/tools/hair-dryers
You will find tons of reviews and a good selection at various price points.

My blow dryer- which I only had for not quite a year- recently quit working. So I'm really impressed that yours lasted 20 years! I'm happy with the one I got as a replacement which is Babylis. I got it on Amazon for about $60.

I have wavy hair and use a hair dryer with a diffuser. I am not sure of the brand (Hot Tools rings a bell, though), but I got it at a beauty supply store that my hair stylist recommended to me. Worked out well for me, so I'd suggest asking your stylist for a recommendation.

Thanks, Amy. Is under 50 USD really unreasonable? Keep in mind that it has been twenty years since I bought one of these, so I have no idea what kind of quality can be had for what price.

I had to laugh at your gofundme example! I hadn't heard of that site. Sounds like asking people to fund a blow dryer might be kind of tame compared to the things you've seen! Ha ha.

Under 50...USD?

Maybe figure out which one you want, without price constraints... then put it on gofundme or kickstarter or something. I'm so tired of requests to contribute to people's destination vow renewals or legal fees for embryo adoption or documentary film about effects of inbreeding on leaky gut syndrome in Abyssinian toadstool flies, that at this point I'd be happy to send money to someone I don't know who just wants a decent hairdryer and will use it happily.

Diffusers are available separately, BTW. Not all will fit all dryers, but it's worth keeping in mind.

I have finally decided to replace my 20-year-old blow dryer, since it doesn't seem to be doing my hair any favors. It was past its prime anyway, ha ha. I did some research on what kind of blow dryer would be best for my fine, wavy hair. It looks like I need the following options:

. Diffuser (very important!)
. Multiple speed settings
. Multiple heat settings, plus cold air to set the style
. Ability to turn off the ionic thingy so that my hair doesn't get overly flat

I don't need a high wattage, apparently, since fine hair does best being dried at lower heat.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a good blow dryer that meets the above criteria? I'm hoping to spend less than $50, if possible. A good diffuser is very important, because I normally wear my hair wavy and not straightened.

Thanks, all!
