I was happy with how it came together. I only got one compliment on the day, not counting my DH. But there were lots of nicely dressed people there, so it’s not that surprising. I had already run the prep photos of my outfit past my DH. He liked the outfit so much he even tried (unsuccessfully) to get a gold shirt to match me, bless him. But unfortunately we had left it too late.</p> <p>Suz, funny you say that. The alternative title to my post was “And the Oscar goes to… a wedding”. Ha ha.</p> <p>Bella, most women were in long dresses. A few were in knee length dresses and pants. No pants suits but I guess it was a bit hot for that. (I would love an excuse to buy a pants suit.)</p> <p>JAileen, my last wedding was maybe 10 years ago? It’s been quite a while. I was hoping for some dancing but the music was totally unrecognisable to me, alas.</p> <p>Dee, Sal, Ket, Suz, I did consider heels. I gold treated an old pair of wedge heels in preparation. But I liked the look of the flats better. Flat shoes seem more modern to my eye. And more practical for traipsing around a farm. There was a mixture of flats and heels there. Some women wore boots, which was very practical, especially when it started raining.</p> <p>Ket, I’ve had the blazer for a while. I don’t wear it that much, because I don’t tend to wear jackets in warm weather. But when I do wear it, it’s perfect. It’s the first wedding I’ve been to in years. Weddings are lovely aren’t they?</p> <p>It was also fun to wear some dressy items in a dressy way. It makes a nice change from wearing my dressy items dressed down.</p> <p>Dark gold is my colour of the year. I wore a dark greenish gold metallic skirt that has a blackish patina. An open knit metallic top in light gold, with a mustard coloured top underneath to give it a slightly darker hue. Bag and shoes in a darker gold than the knit top, but not as green as the skirt. Three different tones of gold, not including the necklace and bracelets. There was also a subtle pattern mix: the patina of the skirt, the mesh of the top, the reptilian scales of the bag, the chain mail necklace and the striped bangles. </p> <p>Pic 1: The wedding was in the country and we would be away for few days to attend. I wanted to make sure that I was happy with the outfit beforehand because once there I wouldn’t be able to access my wardrobe to make any changes. So I did a full try on and took some photos in the week before the wedding (to quote Angie: try it on!)</p> <p>I did make some minor changes after taking the photos. I decided to wear the knit top back to front so the scoop is at the back and the high side is at the front. High necklines always suit me better. I also ended up wearing gold nail polish on my toes and fingers and some gold shimmer lotion on my shoulders.</p> <p>Pic 2: This shows the jacket I planned to wear if it was unexpectedly cool. (Weather predictions were 30C+ so it was unlikely.) I ended up wearing it loosely draped over my shoulders to the ceremony (which was outdoors on a farm - no cover). Initially it was hot and sunny, so it was good sun protection. Then the heavens opened up and it rained quite hard. So I was glad to have the jacket for rain protection. Fortunately for the happy couple, the sun came out again shortly afterwards.</p> <p>Pic 3: At our motel on the day. This shows the top back to front.</p> <p>Note: the find for my sandals shows the colour before treating them with gold metallic polish. </p>
